Apostrophe's parent(s) were already apprehensive of them due to their infernal heritage, but the possession worsened everything. The fiend was a destructive menace and had caused Apostrophe to tear out their own eye.

After a cleric was hired to exorcise Apostrophe, their parents abandoned them (and their haunted sibling Faith), deeming them “bad luck” and not worth the effort to care for. The cleric wasn’t very thorough with the job, since Apostrophe can definitely feel the fiend still lurking around. At least the cleric gave them a magic eye patch that suppresses it!

Together with Faith, Apostrophe traveled from town to town just trying to survive. Apostrophe grew up incredibly aggressive and full of rage, trying to convince themself that they were just coping with their childhood trauma, and hoping that they were not still under the fiend’s influence.

The two siblings sought out a mentor in the College of Spirits in hopes of figuring out a way to control the supernatural influences in their lives. Apostrophe learned how to summon and commune with spirits through the power of music. They currently make a living off of odd jobs, busking on the street, and taking up mercenary work.

• Apostrophe was born relatively human-looking, which made the fiend possession all that much more shocking (as opposed to being "expected" for tieflings).

• I played them in a oneshot where a group of adventurers had to entertain cloud giants or else the giants would destroy a whole town.
