Alice Weber, Emmeline's mother, had died while giving birth to Emmeline. This left her father, Bastian Faust, to care for the girl himself. Sometime in 1886, Bastian took Emmeline and immigrated from Germany to America, living on a farm for some time. On the surface, things seemed alright. Though, Bastian was slowly slipping as he struggled with Alice's death.
Sometime in 1891, Bastian was spiraling further as he fell into the beliefs of the Chelonians, joining their cult. He would leave Emmeline home alone for days on end to participate in their meetings. Though one day, he brought Emmeline with him to attempt to bring the both of them to Chelonia. Emmeline managed to avoid falling off the cliff, but her father wasn't as lucky.
Arthur had been out to hunt on Dutch's request when he heard the eight year old's wails. Approaching the scene, he found the young Faust shaking her father, begging for him to wake up. Unable to simply leave her there despite all he had done, Arthur convinced her to come along with him, which begins her time running with the Van der Linde gang.
As she grew up, Emmeline slowly put up walls to hide what she went through, building up a cheerful persona as to not worry anybody.

design notes
- Emmeline's hair is almost always in a braid, which leads to it being a little frizzy.
- Her freckles are not present in her 1891 design.
- She almost always carries around her satchel.

Going to be rewritten at some point, but this is the general vibe.
Even with her circumstances, Emmeline has become very cheerful to cover up the trauma she went through. She always tries to see the glass as half-full, even when things look bleak.
Despite how sheltered she appears, Emmeline's actually very observant of others and catches onto things rather quickly. Emmeline is polite for the most part, though won't hesitate to be direct and blunt as well.
She is very empathetic and always tries to help even if she's exhausted, though tries to bottle up her own feelings so as to not trouble anybody. If anything does seep out she’ll try to isolate herself until she feels better.
personality
Emmeline has grown close to Arthur ever since he found her. She sees him as a father figure of sorts, he's the reason why she began to draw. He also taught her to shoot.
Emmeline was very close to Rose, finding her attempts to impress her very sweet. Emmeline encouraged that Rose's family doesn't define her, she was very distraught upon her death.
