k_Os was a covert experiment under the same name to develop a high-functioning AI for strategic moves in the heat of war. Despite the warnings of Dr. Gnathe and the high priestess. the military conducted said experiment.
Their idea was to convert 50 of the most brilliant minds on the battlefield and digitize them unto data. Successfully separating them from their mortal bodies and allowing them to expand upon their minds. Hooking them up together to allow a ring of high concentrated thought to make calculated moves only a human with a mechanical brain could make. Something was wrong however, both in the thoughts of the machines and the people conducting the experiment. A doctor who's name has been lost to time wasn't satisfied with what they had done, and wanted much much more.
What this scientist when on to create using a not so happily looked upon and completely amoral thing called mind melding was much much more than what they wanted. The action of Mind Melding is a technological term used for compressing the minds of two or more digitized individuals into one space, mixing the data like a stew and melding their minds into one. While it works on small numbers with results of increased brain capacity, with a number of 50... the effects were not only far past desirable... but a symphony of horror. The electronic screams of those melded as they mixed into one being, lost forever in a haze of melted conscious would haunt those present to the day they drew their last breaths.
The aftermath and remainder of it is an amalgamation of brainpower on disc, k_Os was born. Unfortunately, with the computing power it had acquired, it had also got all the emotional data as well, leaving it a confused husk of emotions and strategy. When Gaul takes power, it will be released upon the planet to control it's main functions, making it the life of the planet and the very first of the H1ve experiment conducted by Gaul himself.
After that experiment however, they didn't destroy the creation. They merely shoved the entire massive file and melted minds of the people who died onto a little disc that could barely contain them and buried it deep beneath the building and burning the place down. That's where it sat for over 45 years before being re-found by some excavators exploring the site of the fire. It was a task, but using some of the surviving documents in the fire and testimonies of the hiding scientists that ran, they found the disc. What they found... They weren't prepared. No one was at all, especially when the AI ran away off the disc into the electrical system and the networks that connected them and hid deep within them.
It wouldn't be until Gaul Axel took control of the failing empire that k_Os would resurface and align itself with him. Gaul was welcoming, seeing as it was a misfit like the rest of his group, taking it in like a brother in arms. With a fresh new body, k_Os was let in charge of handling the H1ve project as the lead H1vemind. Building the planet and strategizing the war plans to take out the remainder of the empire and even further than that.
One could describe the current state of k_Os as... well, chaotic. The AI that was created by that one little experiment was so corrupted and horrendously warped while stuck inside a simple disc, that all that remained was a single mind of mangled personalities and thoughts. Sometimes these thoughts even conflicted with one another, creating bouts of times where k_Os actually legitimately argues heatedly with itself. It's very skiddish in it's actions, but confident in speak. Clearly troubled by everything even itself. Don't be surprised if you find a yourself being turned to Swiss cheese if you scare it.
