Kat lives in the Deluge, a place where people and Pokemon can die at the drop of a hat. This didn't disway her though, when an Eevee was shoved into her hands by a deranged old man raving about the Wonderful world of Pokemon. The Eevee's name was Ray. 

Kat then met a Shiny Deerling named Dough, a shy fawn who was a little full of herself. In the same hour, she met Mia, a Magby full of as much pride and hope as she was. While training they met Zackary, an Electrike. He was protective and innocent. 

They didn't have much time to grow close before they had a run in with a corrupt Government official known as Brock. With his Onix, Orion, he brutally murdered Ray and Dough before the sun had risen. She was never able to look at an Onix the same way again. She took Dough's flower before she buried her, to remember her by.

Mia and Zack comforted Kat for only a few hours before she was ready to get back up and try again. Her pride not yet defeated, Kat became determined to take revenge on the two that killed her friends. She shook all night, unable to sleep.

The trio grew close. Too close. They were ambushed by a horde of Beedrill, which speared Zack on their drills. Every time she heard buzzing she became filled with an intense feeling on anger and dread.  Mia comforted her, taking the courage to bury her friend so that Kat didn't have to. A Patrat approached her while she mourned. The flower Kat gave her didn't help.  Her new team member was named Babe.

A Litwick drained Mia of her remaining energy after many nights of restless sleep. Kat caught him in a Pokeball so that he couldn't hurt Babe. It took many, many years for her to stop shaking at the sight of him. His name was Chase.

A Poocheyna was chasing it's tail in the spot they'd set up camp. His name was Bud. He was childlike and playful, full of life and wonder of the world. She'd be lying if she said that he didn't remind her of herself.  

Kat forced herself to smile as she watched Chase practice battling. The memories were too fresh.  A Cleffa came to her after she wished on a star for comfort and peace of mind. Her name was Amy.

A lone Beedrill attacked camp. Bud tried his best to defend his family, but met the same fate as Zack. Why? Why did this have to happen to him? He was so young, too young for battle. Babe avenged him, evolving and then drowning the Beedrill in a stream. 

One night, Kat swore she saw Ray watching her from the shadows. It wasn't him, it never was. It was Fala, a female Eevee. It took her too many tries to get her name right. She still messes up sometimes. Fala joined the team.
