Ever since Amelia was born her mother has always despised her, cursing and demanding for her to never show herself or refer to her as mother. She was ashamed of how she betrayed her husband and was burdened with a punishment for giving birth to Amelia and her lover leaving without another word. However despite this Amelia had a very close connection to her younger sister Eliza. Eliza was the daughter born from Amelia’s mother and her husband so she was completely human unlike Amelia who was a changeling. Eliza was very fond of her big sister and the two spent a lot of time together. Oftentimes Amelia would mimic how Eliza looks, running up to their father and asking him to figure out which one is the real Eliza. He could always tell though, but despite that the two enjoyed the game a lot. Amelia and Eliza would pretend to be walking mirrors and mimic each other’s actions. They would sleep together, eat together and the two cared for each other a lot. Especially when they got older.
Eventually the two decided to continue the trend of Amelia acting as Eliza identical twin, in an attempt to keep peace and experience events she was banned from. When Eliza needed a break from social interaction Amelia would step in. However when social events and parties weren’t the main event, Amelia was threatened, punished and abused by her mother. Often scolded for being near Eliza, being told she was going to taint, hurt or be a bad influence to her true daughter.
Her mother had gotten so obsessed with erasing her mistakes of having Amelia, making sure she wasn’t seen for who she really was. She had obsessed over it to the point she decided to permanently remove Amelia and planned on killing her. After many months of research, planning and preparation. Her mother had finally poisoned food made for Amelia, picking it up and leaving it on the table. However Amelia wasn’t around today since she was filling in at weapon training for Eliza who was too exhausted from studying to attend. Finding the food on the table, Eliza asked the chef and began to eat once she knew it was fresh. Digging into the food happily she enjoyed the meal, only to be interrupted by her mother screaming in horror. Minutes passed as Eliza was confused as to her mother refusing to answer why the food needed to be spat out until now she felt her legs getting weak and mouth begin to burn. Her body convulsed as she fell to the ground, shaking and convulsing from the effect of the poison.
As Eliza is returning from training she sees her sister dying on the floor and runs to her side, snatching her away from their mother who is desperately trying to force her to throw up. Running into the azorius infirmary in her disguise, she barks at the nurses to treat Eliza, stating that Amelia was poisoned by their mother. Once she is stabilised, Amelia is told that she is in a stable but critical condition, resulting in her being bed ridden for an indefinite amount of time. While still in an unconscious state, Amelia had organised a safe house for her sister to be looked after in, located at another infirmary under the azorius. After a month Eliza woke up, looking to see Amelia still disguised as her twin. Amelia explains everything to Eliza about what happened and where they had run off too.
So Amelia continued to impersonate Eliza from that day on. Earning the code name Tracer from the Azorius. Maintaining her status and working on her behalf. Making money for her treatments so that one day she can be strong enough to live life like they did previously. Each and every day Amelia visits Eliza , telling her about her work day, showing her drawings she made for her. Even bringing her items to keep her entertained. Their bond continued to get stronger and stronger. Amelia is determined to do anything for her sister.
