Shadow Leeches: are a group of demons that live around the realm of Hell.
essentially, shadows that leech onto the host's shadow- only in darkness the host becomes slower, senses are dulled particularly in daylight (in Hell there are two suns, so it's usually daylight) night time and in darkness, host's anxiety levels and fears will heighten for seemingly no reason and the host become very easy to startle at anything.
often not able to control their actions fully at this time. will hear voices in their head at any given time during day or night, but is most common heard in the silence of the dark.
To clarify on this: the voice(s) (you can have more than one leech in your shadow) aren't very coherent at first. Sometimes it might be just a word, whispered in the host's ear at some point, or it could lead into full blown shrieking, though usually starts as a whisper. if the host's shadow is fed on long enough, the host may lose control of their body at certain points of the day or week, depending on the light and shadows surrounding them and eventually, given enough time, they lose control permanently.
shadow leeches can sometimes be seen at the corner of one's eye when it's getting late, or the light is dim but will never be fully seen. It's possible to see something within another person's shadow who has a leech, if you look at it long enough- it may look back, it may feel threatened and have the host attack.
Looking into a person's shadow that has a leech, may appear to be reflective- like a puddle of water. this could be slight movement on the leech's part.
The shadow of the host may sometimes move out of sync with their physical body. But not always. often it just looks like a normal shadow. a host can go a long time without knowing it has one, as at first- there are no noticeable symptoms
They are known to reside within a few caves in Hell
very difficult to get rid of, and the host cannot do it on their own- must be aided by others to do so successfully and in doing so, puts the other person at risk of having the leech transfer to them- so the host is often cast out and avoided, should they be known to have a leech. - or they are outright killed/destroyed
