Ivy was once a human.
She unfortunately remembers her past, and it plagues her daily. She knows for a fact that the Pokemon around her would think she's crazy for recalling a past like this (as her careful guardians had demonstrated), so she remains quiet about it.
In order to fit into the bustling society of Geode continent, she acts as a student at the explorer's academy. She also intends to use this experience as an opportunity to learn exactly why she was sent here, and more importantly, how she can go back.
Along the way, she meets Vene, a snivy who is snooty and disliked her greatly. However, after a few encounters with a group of bullies, they quickly get along (In Vene's very interestingly dismissive way.)
Surprisingly, Ivy finds that Vene reminds her a lot of her closest friend from her human life, which only brings her more pain than anything. But it must be fate, she figures...
... And fate it is, given the circumstances of such an awful upbringing to this continent, plagued by a rising conflict of crystals, a secret hidden beneath its crust.
