LAB REPORT
SHADOW MATEO
SHADOW MATEO is subject #1213. He is quite stubborn and aggressive most times. He is capable of shape-shifting into different animals, but the lab has ensured that he will not use this capability against employees with a shock collar. For now, he does not know how to form into more larger animals.

Shadow was brought in to the lab, a place that studies the supernatural, at the age of 12 and has been here ever since. He is often kept in a room and studied by one of the researches Dr. Lee. Shadow is considered violent and dangerous to those around him for his agressive behavior and murder attempts on Dr. Lee and also chief of the FBI, Marcel.
Shadow is incredibly reserved from almost anyone who interacts with him. He seems to only take a liking to talking to one of the other subjects, Princess, who he has formed a strong bond with. He is constantly being watched over due to his various attempts to escape the lab, claiming that he feels like he is stuck in a loop again. Loops are a topic he has mentioned many times, and seems quite emotional about it. The team thinks he may possibly be schizophrenic because of his disorganized thinking and delusions.

ABILITIES
| SKILLS: | Shapeshifting |
| WEAPONS: | Not allowed |
Based on what he has told us so far, he's had this ability ever since his eyes had turned red unexpectedly which was at age 12, after he killed his parents in order to stop this "loop" he claimed kept happening. He says that he never figured out he had this ability until he was running away from the scene of the crime of the murder he did in a panic, turning into a cat. He isn't able to turn into larger animals than the size of a tiger, as we saw that it takes a big amount of effort to do so.
He isn't allowed to turn into animals when he has the shock collar on, but for testing, it is taken off at times with the help of the FBI team to take him down if necessary. Shadow is able to think and speak while in animal form and it is no different from when he is in human form.

HISTORY
PRE-STORY
Dawn, a 12 year old boy, lives with a hispanic household with his mother and father, who currently do not have the best relationship with each other. He meets with a kid named Trex, who goes to the same school as him, and the two befriend each other. Befriending Trex gave Dawn a lot of new insights, since he was usually quiet and reserved around anyone. But as this friendship begins, he begins to realize slowly that he is repeating the same things continuously. As if his day was restarting repeatedly. It was a feeling of a lot of deja-vu, but he wasn’t too sure if it was just him, since no one else seemed to feel the way he did. Eventually when he gets tired of this, Dawn tries to get out of this loop by doing things differently. He does this by trying not to befriend Trex, but for some reason, Trex keeps showing up in his everyday life. Dawn ends up trying to be as dislikeable as possible, but it makes him feel bad, so he eventually gives into being friends with Trex again, apologizing for his recent odd behavior. Throughout the loops, Dawn feels more and more mentally unstable. He does an experiment to see if whatever he writes now will show up in the next loop, and indeed, it was true, but only for one specific notebook he had. He would write about what was happening and notes to himself to make sure he’d remember for the next loop. Eventually, he’d get Trex to help out on his goal to find out why these loops were happening. At first, Trex is skeptical, but Dawn shows how he’s able to tell the future of what happens throughout the day. But as these loops continue on, Dawn begins to lose hope. Everything just kept repeating itself and he kept having to remind Trex repeatedly of what’s happened so far. Patience wearing thin, he became convinced that perhaps he has to do something drastic in order to stop this loop. He’ll see if people are to return back from the dead as if nothing happened in the next loop. So, he kills his parents, thinking that with this drastic change, it would return the loop back to normal. But something unexpected happens. The loop, this time, doesn’t restart. At this, Dawn becomes panicked and ends up running away after texting Trex to come over, leaving his phone behind and leaving the front door unlocked so Trex could go inside and be framed, enough to give Dawn enough time to go hide away. He ends up in the woods, now fearing for his life. By the time he’s in the woods, the sun is setting and it’s getting chilly. He decides to climb a tree to what he would think a random animal or person would see him easily, making sure it’s with large and sturdy branches. With this, he stays up for most of the night until four am, falling asleep by accident.STORY MODE
It was still morning when Dawn woke up again still on the tree. He felt despair take over him once again. Along with a wave of guilt and shame. It was the first time in his life where he was truly on his own, with not even his parents there to guide him. Because he was stupid enough to murder his own parents. The remorse he had felt for Trex was overwhelming. He couldn’t even believe he’d do that to his own friend. Now, Trex would have to deal with his consequences back at home, with no idea of what just happened. Back at Dawn’s home, Trex discovers what happens inside of his home. It was a brutal sight that made Trex feel incredibly sick. He immediately left, calling the police. Trex remembers how Dawn told him to come over, yet Dawn wasn’t here at all. Nor was he near the corpses of his own parents. With rushing thoughts, Trex began to feel upset at the thought of Dawn just telling him to come here with this horrific event that happened here in his home, and Dawn is just nowhere to be seen. Eventually, the police come and question Trex, who is now considered a suspect of this crime. Trex frantically tries to justify why he came here while the officers seem suspicious of this kid. The officers found it a little hard to believe that a child could have done such an abdominal crime, so, they began to trust some of Trex's explanations as to why he was here. He makes sure to mention Dawn, who he hopes wasn’t the one who did this. Now, police are on the lookout for Dawn, a boy who could have possibly been responsible for the murder of two adults. Dawn, still in the woods, decides to try and look for somewhere less scarier than the woods. Maybe somewhere less crowded with trees and near people. He wished that there was at least someone out there to help him somehow. Dawn still had blood on his hands and a bit on his clothes. It would be horrible of him to go out in front of people like this. Afraid of being caught in public of what he had done, he goes out venturing for a less scary place to hide. Farther away from where he came from. While he’s wandering out on his own, he finds out he has the ability to shapeshift into different animals. He didn’t know how to control it yet though at this age. Eventually, he makes it to an old brick building that had spray paint all over the walls, the roof turning a blackish color and the windows cracked and dusty. He was going hungry, and he didn’t have any idea of what to do. Dawn then passed out, tired. But when he awakens, he wakes up to the sight of a man standing over him. He looked like a police officer. The man, who is later to be known as Marcel, says how he was doing patrol around these grounds, since there are sometimes gangs hanging out here doing illegal activities. Marcel was concerned for Dawn’s being, seeing a kid passed out on the ground inside an abandoned building. At first, Marcel questions Dawn if he was taking drugs, because his eyes were incredibly red. Dawn immediately says no to this and tries to explain to Marcel his situation without sounding too suspicious. But in the end, Marcel managed to make the kid say the truth by some pressure and intimidation. Now believing he’s about to get in trouble, Dawn just gives up. But, Marcel tells him that he won’t tell anybody, which surprises Dawn greatly. He asks why, and was told that word gets around quickly amongst police. Especially when something bad happens. At this, Marcel smiles and pats Dawn’s back as if this was no big deal. He felt a bit guilty and weird about being dismissed so easily from this crime he had done. But how come Marcel knew it was him so quickly? Asking him this, Marcel laughs, reminding Dawn that he has blood on his shirt and hands and the fact that someone had told the officers how Dawn looks like. With this fact in mind, Dawn felt ashamed. Wasn’t he supposed to be sent to prison or something like that? But he remembers how Marcel told him that his eyes were red, so he asks him about that. With a little chuckle, Marcel took out his phone and showed Dawn’s face. Dawn’s eyes were fully scarlet red, with pupils that looked like yellow lightning strikes. The boy was frightened by the sight, thinking that maybe he somehow injured his eyes without even realizing it. Marcel could tell by the look of his face that the boy was not expecting this at all, so he tells him to not worry, it’s not some sort of human condition, it’s just a “special case” and that Dawn should come with him. He was hesitant, of course, to go with some random man that found him here. But he was an officer, he should be able to trust in this guy. He even had the badge and everything, which made Marcel seem really cool. Following him, Marcel makes casual conversation about his work, making the kid laugh every now and then. Asking the man where they were going, he tells him that the two are going to a place where special kinds of people or “things” go to. Nothing to worry about. Eventually, the two make it to a large white building with nothing else near it beside fences and other officer-looking people, except they had big guns. By this, Dawn was intimidated by the whole place, but Marcel reassures him. Marcel says he is the head of the guards here, and shows his badge, which Dawn is impressed by. The two went through the heavily guarded entrance and were met with a lot of plain colors of white and gray. There were tables with stacks of files and bookshelves full of books that had science related titles. The place smelt a lot as if they were at the dentist and it was uncomfortably quiet, with only the footsteps of the two being heard walking down the white floor. Eventually, they make it to a specific door with a gold plated name tag on the door labeled Dr. Lee. Marcel knocks and the two are let inside once he addresses himself. Entering the room, there were more bookshelves and a crowded desk, a computer there and stacks of papers and files. The light in this room didn’t have the same bright white light that the hallway did, it was more soft on the eyes. There, sitting in front of the large desk was a pale man with short dark brown hair, glasses, and a white lab coat. Behind his glasses, on his right eye, three scars could be seen, seeming like it was from an animal of some sort. Dr. Lee introduced himself to Dawn, but he didn’t look very happy while doing so, in fact, he looked miserable. Like the stereotypical grumpy old man someone would have as a neighbor. With this demeanor, Dawn felt uneasy, but Marcel, with a charming attitude, reassures Dawn that he’s always like this. Dr. Lee orders Marcel to leave the room, wanting to speak with Dawn alone. Once he does, Dr. Lee asks Dawn if he knows why he’s here, to which Dawn replies “Marcel just brought me here because he said I'm a special case or something like that.” After this, he asks if he’s in trouble, to which Dr. Lee says no, softening his demeanor slightly. The man tells him that this place is where “not-normal” people or things go, and that Dawn wasn’t normal from what he could see. It reminded Dawn of the weird thing he had going on with his eyes. But even then, he felt shameful. Ashamed for what he had done to his own parents and friend. He was never normal. Dr. Lee tells Dawn that he’s now going to stay here for quite a while, but tries to make it not seem as bad as it sounded. He asks about Dawn’s parents, which makes Dawn immediately feel nervous and fidgety, and Dr. Lee notices this and makes him feel suspicious. The conversation turns into him pressuring Dawn into talking about his parents as he took notes. With Dawn’s story so far, he looks concerned and frustrated in a way. Grumbling to himself every now and then. Dawn was sent to a room by Marcel. It was where he was going to stay most of the time according to what Marcel told him. He stayed there for what felt like an hour before someone named Dr. Finley came in, who looked much kinder than Dr. Lee. The man asked him some questions about his life and how he felt at the moment, with careful wording, Dawn felt rather safe when talking to him. Later on, Dawn stays for a long while and changes his name to Shadow to disconnect from the name Dawn, since the name Dawn to him was someone corrupted and a horrible person. As he got older and was dealing with the same people, he got tired of staying in one building. Being in the same room. It felt like a loop, but it wasn’t. The fact that this repeated-like schedule reminded him of the loop, it desperately made him want to break the routine. Tired of being here, he began to get more stubborn and aggressive towards everyone, getting into consistent arguments with Dr. Lee. And every time Shadow tried to escape, Marcel would stop him, making Shadow hate Marcel too and get into arguments with him as well. But Shadow won’t admit he’s pretty intimidated by Marcel with the power he held as the chief of the guards for this lab and Marcel knew that. He’d often take advantage of this fear and scare him sometimes when nobody else is watching. Or just mess with him. Dr. Lee trusts Marcel, so even when Shadow tried to tell on him, he wasn’t believed. Now 17 years old, Shadow has gotten more bitter. He’s learned how to control his shape shifting power, but he constantly uses it to try to escape or use aggression towards others. He’d have to wear a special shock collar that prevented him from shape shifting. Dr. Lee and Marcel have their own controllers for it. A new patient eventually joins the lab by the namie of Princess, a 9 year old girl with monster hair she named Prince. During the breaks Shadow would get to spend some time outside (with barbed fences of course and guards everywhere), he got to know Princess & Prince and eventually the two got a strong sibling bond. Princess reminded Shadow of Trex a little bit in a way with how nice she was and a bit clumsy. Princess even formed a father-daughter bond with Dr. Lee. As time goes on, Shadow begins to try and sabotage Marcel in small ways to try and get him fired or caught by another worker while he messes with him or something. It failed every time. Marcel somehow always knew what he was doing and it confused Shadow greatly. One day, Shadow manages to escape and run off a long way until Marcel catches him. The two have this great fight and towards the end when Shadow is incredibly worn out, reveals that he created him. And that he created this world and this story. That he can always just restart this story all over again and he’ll just have the joy of watching Shadow suffer repeatedly. That he only wanted to play a part in creating misery in his life for the fun of it. At this, Shadow, at first, doesn’t believe him, but then everything disappears and the world just turns into a white void. Marcel turns into this giant pink creature with multiple eyes and mouths. This scares Shadow completely. Marcel reveals he’s had the ability to create characters, rewrite the storyline, morph into anything it wants. (Marcel doesn’t actually have a gender, now referred to as “it” once in god-form). It was the one that made Shadow go through those loops. The shape shifting part of the story apparently wasn’t supposed to happen and was actually a mistake done by Marcel, but it didn’t mind, so it kept the idea. From here, Marcel reveals that this isn’t the first time Shadow has encountered it like this. There were multiple times, it’s just that Shadow doesn’t have memory of any of it. By this, Shadow is petrified, frustrated, and distraught. Shadow will never truly be able to leave this loop Marcel says. With this, Marcel lets Shadow go through his little mental breakdown, poking fun at it before restarting the storyline. The storyline changes from time to time(different au’s basically) so Marcel can have his fun.
