The woman was desperate for a child, and after the unfortunate death of her first, she was left grasping for sanity without the one thing that brought her happiness. When she found a young child crying in the woods, it was an answered prayer for her. She smothered the boy in love and look him in as her own, raising him in her band of traveling gypsies. Being the “youngest” of five, Keith was often prevented from going out on adventures due to her being worried about what would happen to him. That, of course, didn’t stop him. One day Keith swindled the wrong person at the wrong time. He was cheating people in games in a local tavern when he was supposed to be at home and ended up in a verbal fight with a hot-tempered pirate, he came out on top much to the annoyance of the older man. The furious captain threw tables and cursed the child, and was soon ushered out of the building. After a successful night of flawless cards, Keith left with his pockets full of gold. When he turned to quickly get back to the caravan, but soon everything went black as a sack went over his head. He never made it back, and the angered captain had taken him.

Soon thereafter, Keith was sold to a merchant with many other slaves. He felt the nauseating rocking sensation of the choppy waters under the boat for days. Maybe weeks. Soon, the slaving ship docked and the sack was undone. He was in shackles with a bunch of other beaten people. They were placed on auction, each one being bought off in their beige tattered garbs. Soon Keith was placed before the wealthy crowd, and a spark of anger ignited inside him. Soon, a less-wealthy gentleman bought him and guided him through the crowd, a firm hand on his arm as he struggled helplessly, for he was weak from starvation. The man explained he was a retired performer by the name of H.B. Sinford. Seeing the natural talent that Keith had singing while awaiting his turn on the platform, he desperately wanted him to join his band of misfit entertainers. Keith relaxed a little bit and went along. Sadly, it turned out that Sinford’s little crew was quite terrible, and only were attempting such embarrassment for money, although Sinford was a good, honest man and wanted to create his own entertainment company. Soon, Keith was the star performer, learning knife juggling, singing, card tricks (a favorite of his), and other sorts of amusing abilities. Soon, he was the talk of the town despite the bad performers, and it was brought to the king’s attention, who needed a court jester and performer for the palace now. As a surprise, the king came to a small performance put of by Keith, who nearly lost his breath at the sight of King Bergol. The king then bought Keith Hollowfoot from Sinford and took him back to the palace. Keith performed there and learned from many politicians and leaders, even occasionally tripping the diplomats up. It was his way of doing good in the world- skipping the middleman. He sometimes wished for home but he knew that here we would actually make a difference.
