Niko

Personality
Niko is a positive, passionate and confident person. She's sociable and talkative so it's easy for her to hold conversations and make friends. She's very flirty and bold and will often try to hit on people, unafraid of rejection since she mostly does it for fun or to gain something, usually money or sex, and is rarely emotionally invested. She'll talk to anyone who listens, even strangers, and once she really gets going it can be difficult for others to get a word in. She's emotional and can be quite dramatic, she will express her emotions and opinions strongly and is bad at hiding them.
Niko takes meticulous care of her looks and tries to stay healthy, most of the time. She enjoys drinking though, but not excessively. She wants to always look her best and enjoys wearing jewelry, pretty clothing and lingerie and often wears a corset under her clothes. She dislikes being seen without makeup. Despite being quite confident she worries that she won't be found attractive without her usual getup. She also has a scar on the right side of her face which she covers with her hair. Throughout the years the scar will fade though, and she'll become more comfortable with showing her face again.
She enjoys attention, feeling wanted, receiving gifts and compliments and likes it when people spend money on her. She knows she looks good and flaunts it. She'll sometimes use people to get what she wants and especially goes after rich and/or attractive people. She dreams of the life of a rich housewife and would rather depend on the wealth of another person than work for it herself.
She can be a bit selfish and will usually put herself first. Towards her loved ones she's kind and supportive and very affectionate. Most of her relationships are casual and deep emotional connections are more rare.
She can be modest and polite when needed and knows when to act proper, but she can be quite indecent and enjoys inappropriate humor.

Story
Niko grew up with conservative deadbeat parents who often fought, which made the atmosphere at home quite tense and suffocating.  They'd make their kids (Niko and her sister, Aria) do most of the housework while they'd lie around and drink. Niko didn't have a very happy childhood and didn't receive much love or care from her parents, but she and Aria got along well and would stick together and protect each other. She still managed to keep a positive outlook on life, holding on to the hope that she'd one day be more free and in a better situation.
Niko started going out a lot in her teens to get away from the house, but she'd always come back as she didn't want to leave her sister alone with their parents for too long. This was also around the time she started to express interest in presenting more feminine - she'd never been very boyish to begin with despite her parents being very firm about wanting to raise her as a boy and scolding her for not being typically masculine. She started growing her hair out and trying on her sister's clothes and playing with makeup. She had to do it in secret though, as she knew how her parents would react. Her sister ended up finding out and warned her, but accepted it as she wanted Niko to be comfortable. At this time Niko started to question her gender but simply though she was a boy who was more into feminine fashion.
As Niko grew older, she became more bold and started standing up to her parents and would argue instead of accepting the bad treatment she and her sister received. Her parents weren't happy about this of course, which strained their relationship further. Aria stayed nice and compliant, though, which frustrated Niko since she felt that they shouldn't let their parents treat them the way they did and get what they wanted. Eventually her parents found out about her wearing women's clothing as well and it all escalated into a big fight about how Niko should do as they say and act like a man. During this fight her father hit her in the face with glass, which cut her and gave her the scar.
That was when Niko decided she wasn't going to put up with it anymore and left. She asked Aria to go with her, who refused. Niko didn't want to leave her there alone, but she couldn't stay anymore, so she just had to hope that Aria would be fine. Their parents favored her after all. She hasn't been in contact with her family since then, although she still thinks about her sister sometimes and wonders how she's doing.

After leaving home, Niko had nowhere to go. She had no close friends she could turn to, only people she saw sometimes when she went out. She tried asking around for jobs, but with no luck, and so she turned to prostitution, which allowed her to provide for herself for a while. She slept at her clients' houses, sneaking out in the morning, or in whatever accommodations she could afford. She was in need of a more stable and riskless lifestyle though, and eventually she ended up hearing about the Quinton household, who were known for being charitable and hiring less fortunate people, providing them shelter and a place to live. She now lives and works there as a maid, in an environment where she has been able to grow more happy and confident, and where she is loved and supported.
