The eldest daughter of the King and Queen of the Kingdom of ______, a small yet prosperous kingdom, Ailith was the elder sister to her two younger brothers ____ and ______. Despite being the eldest, her younger brothers were the heir and the spare to the throne, and as third in line for the throne, she was never expected to bear this responsibility; Ailith's duty was to one day enter a political alliance for the benefit for her kingdom. She was trained in diplomacy from a young age, as well as the duties expected of an princess. However these were not the only lessons she learned; her father allowed her to be trained in combat and other skills more befiting of a knight of the kingdom. Ailith was often bored of her lessons in etuiqette so the more exciting lessons of swordplay and horseriding were what she'd rather be doing at all times.

Even as she yearned for her life to be full of fighting and adventuring, Ailith was a dutiful daughter who would do her duty, even if she led an unhappy life someday with a husband she wouldn't love. She adored her younger brothers and felt extremely protective over them. She was loved by her parents and admired by her brothers, even endeared by her kingdom despite being a rather unconventional princess. She could never of imagine her peaceful life would come crashing down all around her. One night, Ailith was awoken to shouts, and to her horror the castle was littered with the butchered bodies of the knights sworn with her families protection. The attackers were quick to find and capture her, keeping her obeident only as they dangled the lives of her brothers over her head. She was brought to the throne room, where a man dared sit upon her fathers throne. At his feet lay the crumpled bodies of her parents, their blood staining the stone beneath them. Enraged with grief, Ailith struggled in her captors grasp as they brought her before the usurper who held his blood soaked sword in hand. Uncaring of the tears that streamed from her eyes, the man introduced himself as Lord ____, claiming his distant blood ties to the throne meant he deserved to be King. Then he ordered his men to bring her brothers to kneel at his feet and Ailith struggled desperately to free herself from her bonds, her brothers wide terrified eyes and frightened sobbing tearing her in two. She cursed, begged and screamed for Lord ___ to release them but he would not listen. He stood, sword held in hand as he declared that as princes they were a threat he couldn't allow to live. The only comfort was that their deaths were quick.

The Lord turned to Ailith and knelt down before her, ignoring her tears as he held her chin in a tight grip, his smile sharp. He declared that she would be allowed to live - as a princess she was no threat to him, infact she would help legitimize his right to the throne. Ailith was too be his bride. Ailith snarled that she would never marry the murderer who had slain her parents and her brothers. She'd rather die. Amused by her declation, he ordered for his men to take her away for now, to lock her int he dungeons until she saw reason. As she was dragged away, Ailith swore she'd kill him for his crimes. She was locked in the dungeon for many sleepless nights, the only thing that kept her drinking and eating was the desire to avenge her family. She cried so much the tears eventually stopped coming. Lord ____ had visited her once or twice, trying to persuade her to see reason. She had grown used to ignoring him, hiding her face in her arms. When the door to her cell was suddenly unlocked, Ailith expected the lord to have returned, refusing to look for several moments till a voice she recognised called her name. Turning in shock to meet the eyes of one of her parents advisors, the keys to her chains held in his grip, she could barely speak as he hurried to unchain her, helping her to her feet. He'd come to free her - telling her he'd prepared her horse with supplies so she could escape. At first Ailith refused, wishing to just go and kill the lord now she was free, but at the advisors urging that she should take this chance to escape, to bide her time and gather allies from other kingdoms so that she could reclaim her kingdom another day. If she failed to kill him now it would be impossible for her to have another chance, the lord would be more vigilant, perhaps keep her trapped by other means than simple chains. Hearing this wisdom, Ailith agreed, and the advisor snuck her to the stables, where after having changed from the nightgown she'd been wearing since the night of the attack, she donned simple clothes, and fled into the cover of night. It hurt to run - but if Ailith wanted to avenge her family she had to be patient.

Ever since then Ailith has been wandering, disgusing herself as an mercenary. Before she'd ran, the advisor had entrusted her fathers beloved sword to use to defend herself, but as taking to hiding the hilt so as to deter suspicious eyes or thieves. Despite wishing she could simply waltz into other kingdoms and beg for help, it would expose her and lead the lord to her, and there was no guarantee that anyone would believe her tale - not after living for so long on the run. She's grown used to her solitude, earning her keep by hunting, slaying beasts and other tasks of manual labor. Her life seems a distant memory now - though the guilt of being unable to save her parents, nor her brothers has eaten away at her. She feels guilt at being the only one alive - but her vengence was the only thing keeping her going. Having heard gossip about a dragon terrorizing a small village, Ailith journeys there to slay the beast but her plans are interrupted by an young woman - her arrows doing nothing but infuriating the dragon and almost costing her her life. Ailith is quick to jump to her rescue, dashing in and sweeping the maiden up in her arms who at first mistakes her for an knight. When the women learns she is also in fact a women she is deeply embarrassed at her brief swooning and the two now safely hidden from the dragon decide to work together to bring it down. Her archery skills were impressive despite the naive approach, and Ailith comes up with a plan to better make use of her skill. Together they slay the beast and share the reward. Later that day, Ailith learns that Feyre is an princess from an large kingdom with many heirs, and she is on a journey to break a curse placed on her by a witch. Ailith keeps her own past a secret for the time being, but decides to journey with her, perhaps Feyre's kingdom would aid her in her quest to reclaim her kingdom...
