Ko is a myo fig monster, a closed species by Ponacho @ dA
A lovely fig monster... except for on full moons.
Ko lives off of and has his appearance based on a fruit called the Wolf Berry (I'm rly creative /shot). The berry grows on a tree in sync with the phases of the moon. During the new moon, old berries will fall from the tree (now inedible; explained later) and new flowers will bud. Throughout the month, the flower will bloom, and then form into a berry very quickly. These berries can be eaten (although not as tasty), and is what Ko lives off of most of the month. The berries carry a toxic chemical that becomes more potent the longer the berry is able to grow. But they also become more tasty. Smaller animals cannot eat these berries, but fig monsters are able to tolerate the toxins, although their behaviour becomes altered the more potent the toxin.
When the full moon arrives, the berries have reached their peak in tastiness, and have reached the threshold of poison content that will not kill the fig monster. The full moon further alters the chemicals within the berry, and when Ko eats these berries, he goes through a temporary transformation, both mentally and physically. While he's playful and friendly in his normal state, in his were-state, Ko is vicious and cruel. This state will pass at the break of dawn.
