Ama'u is a kindhearted rogue that for many years lived just outside the territory for Magmaclan, living peaceably on the side of the mountain with generally friendly relations to the nearby clan, though she had no real desire to live among them as she appreciates being in control of herself and her own destiny and doesn't really believe in all of their "Starclan" nonsense. When Magmaclan is nearly wiped out by a leopard, she is nonetheless dismayed to see her former friends dead and gone. She ends up deciding to join in order to help Mournstar rebuild his home and clan, and care for the two kits that survived the attack.

She is still a skeptic and doesn't always follow the warrior code due to her roots and caution towards starclan...but she means well and genuinely cares about the cats around her, which in some ways is just as valuable.

 She's very independent and very much so prefers to be in control of her own destiny. However, her heart is bigger than her desire to be a lone wolf.
