Background

 As a child, Félix faced pressure from his immigrant Asian family to pursue a highly valued field and become a respectable person, despite his passion for music. Though Félix is good at computer science and studying it in college, he feels unsatisfied and struggles with his individuality due to him not pursuing his true passion, music.

 However, with the help of his friend and college colleague Elliot, Félix secured an apprenticeship under the guidance of Marie, Elliot's older sister, who works as an live audio engineer for the band Medolic Phantasia. Here, Félix was able to apply his computer science skills to the field of audio engineering. He met the band members, including his future love interest Jaiden. Embracing the hours dedicated to his craft, Felix learns to operate audio equipment for Medolic Phantasia, guided by Marie, who often acts as an older sibling figure to him. He specifically takes on the role of live audio engineer during Medolic Phantasia's music performances. Though he is initially inexperienced, Felix improves his engineering skills over time with Marie's mentorship.

His personality flips drastically when wearing headphones, and can be especially seen when working as an audio engineer for the band, Medolic Phantasia. He switches from quiet, awkward to a serious, composed personality. His creativity shines through his INFP side (not wearing headphones) and his organized, planning side shines though his INTJ personality (wearing headphones).

Personality

As an INFP 4w5 so/sp, Félix is an introspective and creative individual who is deeply driven by his personal values (Fi cognitive function). He has a strong desire to express his unique identity through music and art. Additionally, he wants to explore a wide range of ideas and possibilities, particularly through music theory (Ne cognitive function). Félix is focused on inner experiences and knowledge, reflecting the introspective nature of a 4w5 enneagram. Félix is quite introverted, but attuned to his social environment, striving to understand and express himself deeply.

At times, he can be described as overly emotional and a coward due to his sense of empathy and wonder. Sometimes, he is considered desperate due to his hopes of finding a girlfriend.

On the other hand, when Félix wears his headphones, he exhibits a stark character duality. Félix becomes more confident in his abilities as an audio engineer apprentice, becoming serious and self-assured about his work. His split personality comes as a consequence of his experience growing up with his Asian family, where he wore headphones to concentrate on his homework while his mother monitored him.

Felix's split personality does come with some drawbacks however, as he becomes self-absorbed in his work as an audio engineer, not taking the time to consider the band members at times. This is a character trait that soon leads to conflict with Jaiden as the story goes on.

Style

Felix has a casual grunge style, reminiscent of skater boy fashion, favoring baggy clothing, particularly cargo pants with side straps. He frequently wears striped shirts and prefers muted colors for his daily outfits. He wears chunky, thick platform sneakers with star designs that add 1 1/2 inches to his height. He is rarely seen without his headphones, which rest around his neck, his headphones having stripes and star designs. His music taste includes mainly 90's and 2000's rock bands like Weezer, Green Day, and Blink-182. Initially, he listened to these bands ironically, but over time, their music genuinely grew on him, and he now finds himself relating to some of the lyrics of their songs.

• Félix's insecurity with his masculinity-  
  • Félix does not even think for a second about the possibility of getting a boyfriend as he is highly fixated on getting a girlfriend. He grew up with group of friends who made casual homophobic jokes, leading to him viewing LGBTQ+ people as a community to ridicule to be accepted in their friend group. 
  • Félix is deeply fixated on finding a girlfriend, which is driven by his desire for companionship and a sense of being loved—something he missed out on during his childhood due to his parents' busy schedules. Lacking love and support from them growing up, he turns to seeking female companionship, often appearing desperate in his efforts.
  • As time goes on, he meets Jaiden, who is openly pansexual, and gets closer to him. Félix feels his masculinity threatened by the idea of liking a guy, rejecting and suppressing his underlying romantic feelings for Jaiden, finding it hard to accept. He begins to feel confused and shameful about questioning his sexuality, being under the notion that he is straight. Félix is bisexual, but unaware throughout the story as he never considered the idea of male companionship growing up with his homophobic friend group.
• Coming to terms with sexuality-
  • Félix’s struggle with his sexuality intensifies as he tries to reconcile his growing affection for Jaiden with his previously held beliefs. Marie notices Félix’s increasingly down demeanor and his emotional turmoil as he works as an audio engineer for Medolic Phantasia. Concerned for Félix’s well-being, Marie talks to Félix about his feelings and his development with Jaiden.
    Initially, Félix reacts defensively to Marie’s suggestions about the possibility of being queer, finding it hard to reconcile with his previous self-concept as strictly straight. The idea of being bisexual never occurred to him before, largely due to his homophobic social environment and his own denial. As he takes time to reflect on Marie’s insights and his own feelings, Félix begins to confront his confusion and shame and must face his ingrained beliefs and the fear of self-acceptance.

  • Félix also has a split personality that is seen in his professional and personal life. This sort of flow state, particularly when he’s deeply immersed in his work as an audio engineer, Félix wears headphones and becomes absorbed in his creative process. This state represents a different face of his personality—one that is focused, confident, and detached from the insecurities that plague him outside of work.
    This split between his professional self and personal struggles creates an internal conflict: while he excels in his creative pursuits and feels a sense of accomplishment, this persona often feels disconnected from his everyday self, who is conflicted with issues of masculinity, self-worth, and sexual identity. The contrast between these aspects of his life adds to his internal problem, as he tries to integrate these disparate parts of his identity and find a cohesive sense of self.
