Branch was from a place of excessive pollution to the point where there was soot in the ground and among the fur in his paws. When a fire broke out in his befouled home, he ran away, with nothing to himself. He tried to get to the forest, but by the time his paws were able to hit the grass below, he dropped, dead from the smoke inhalation. The gods felt guilty about the poor cat, who was only trying to make a better life for himself so they came with a solution to get him the life he deserved. They made him a forest spirit, a guardian of the forest and protector of creatures around him. He loves the forest with all his heart and the forest loves him right back.
