After Shion's older brother started Black Thunder, he cut off all contact with his parents. They were fine with this arrangement, wanting nothing to do with him after he disgraced their family. To make up for the embarrassment of having a delinquent for a son, after he left, they decided to have another child with one goal: we will not mess this one up the way we messed up our son. Thus, in 2006, Shion was born. Her parents took on an extremely authoritarian style of raising her, forcing her into several extracurriculars, not allowing her to have friends they didn't approve of, and accepting nothing less than perfection academically. If she failed to meet their expectations, the punishment was severe. As a result, she rarely had any free time. Her parents controlled every aspect of her life. During this time, her mysterious brother figure was constantly held over her head while simultaneously being hidden from her. Her parents reminded her daily that her brother had brought shame to their family and he was horrible for leaving them, but at the same time, they'd never tell her specifics about him. She doesn't even know what he looks like.

After graduating high school, she decided she'd had enough of living in her oppressive household. She packed her bags, wrote a note, and hopped on a train to where she thought she'd get to experience enough excitement to make up for her miserable childhood: Kamuro-cho. It just so happens that Yuya, who doesn't even know she exists, runs one of the most successful host clubs in the area. Clueless from her sheltered upbringing, Shion, going by the alias Miwa, is left to wander the streets alone in search of her future.
