Amir was found alone in a ravine in the Red Divide by Verna's father, the sheriff of a small town that resides in the hub. The colt was but a few days old and severely dehydrated, all alone out in the wilderness to face the threats and cold that lurked at night. Monroe, Verna's father, took him home and nursed him back to health, and once he was fit enough to hold his own, he presented him to his daughter as her own, a hors for her to take care of. Verna loved him with her heart, and trained him well as the two grew up. He's very well behaved and fiercely protective of Verna and her dad, willing to jump into danger to protect them both.
