Kelpie/Horse form: Liver Chestnut Fell Pony

Kelpie/Human form: About 5’1, light skinned, strawberry blonde hair that resembles her chestnut mane and tail, her ears stay horse-like as well as her legs from the knees down are horse-like. To some with strong magic or at least decent 6th senses, they can see her this way. But those who are weak in magic, or their 6th sense is not as strong, she’ll appear completely as a human with no horse-like ears, legs, or tail. 

Fears: Witches and some warlocks, being discovered by people who mean her harm, droughts, running out of fish, other Kelpies

Likes: Fish, brushies (being brushed), the spring season, the autumn season, swimming, galloping about her forest home, chasing other woodland animals, getting treats from the woodsman who visits sometimes, cuddles from village children, being mostly in her pony form, most meats, trying new food, making dresses for herself, reading (trying), singing

Dislikes: The extreme heat and extreme cold (not good weather for a water related creature), large crowds, alcohol, dark magic, other kelpies, most other mythical creatures (Dragons are scarrrrry), being alone (not that she can help it), fire

Backstory: Before, Kelpies were thought to be spirits of horses or riders that drowned in lakes or bodies of water, come back to haunt the living as a grotesque horse creature. But Kelpie (Aithne) was actually born just as most horses are, to a loving mother and father, of course they were both Kelpies. Aithne left her mother’s lake when she was still maturing, as is normal for young Kelpies, so that they can find their own homes and make a territory for themselves. Traditionally a Kelpie makes it’s home close to humans, to eat them, but Aithne has never tasted human flesh and does not plan to. This is due to a human saving her as a young colt, having been chased by some wolves and too small to defend herself while her mother was away and hunting, a human hunter dispersed the wolves by killing one with a bow and arrow. Despite her mother’s stories of Kelpies consuming humans, Aithne never became interested.
Aithne has her home in a lake in the center of a vast forest, with a rather busy village not too many miles away to the north of her.
The village knows her as the ‘forest pony’ and ‘Ember’ for she shows quite a lot of energy when humans stumbleupon her galloping in the forest. Of course, they have no idea that she’s a Kelpie. Hiding her fangs and doing her best to appear as a simple pony, Aithne doesn’t push her luck when it comes to human interaction. Sometimes she can’t resist and gets carried away with the children, frolicking and playing until the village dogs chase her away.
Her favorite human is the woodsman of the village, a man who calls her ‘Pony lass’ and gives her treats of apples and carrots. Apparently he’s the reason she’s never been captured, though Aithne isn’t aware of the whole story but she is grateful to him. It’s only recently that Aithne has wanted to attempt trying out her human visage and walking into the village but she is still shy and often gets too scared to do it.
