Shiver and his family originated from the 5th ring. Through hard work, mostly from hunting, he was able to boost his status and bring his family up with him to the 2nd ring. Due to his hardworking nature he was chosen, along with two other Icewings, to go attend Jade Academy for their year. While he is fantastic at hunting he's awful at fighting other dragons.
If there was one word to describe Shiver, it would without a doubt be anxiety. He feels incredibly pressured to do the absolute best in order to keep his family at the top. He'd honestly be just fine in the lower ranks but since his family's quality of life depends on how he does he simply can't tolerate doing poorly. Whenever he drops in the rankings he gets incredibly upset. Being at Jade Academy barely helped because he still worries about how his family is faring back home or what may be happening in the Ice Kingdom.
While trying to catch a super huge walrus, a mishap caused Shiver's front arm to get crushed. It not only caused him to plummet in the ranks for a bit but also never healed quite right. As a result, he had a metal gauntlet made to offer his arm support while hunting. When casual he simply tightly bounds it in bandages. He still walks with a slight limp but during important events he's decent at hiding it. He beats himself up over it all the time.
