Jingyi

Jingyi is a river dragon, whose domain resides in the river he embodies and protects. He controls the weather within his domain, including the river and much of his surrounding environment, and it is in his domain that he is strongest. Still, there have been many times where he has wandered off to nearby villages, watching over them but never truly interacting with them. Exchanges are made only when they come to his river to offer prayer and offerings, which he heeds in turn with plentiful rains to cultivate a bountiful harvest.

He carries an aura of grace and nobility, and at times he seems rather intimidating. Like the water he represents, he is a calm and levelheaded man with a fair sense of judgment and a wisdom centuries old. As the river gets lonely at times, he sometimes ventures from his domain to meet and talk with other dragons.

He has had only one human companion so far, a friendship that he cherished. His name was Jiāng Bingwen, an adventurer, and when he first saw the dragon, he did not treat him with immense reverence as would other humans, which puzzled Jingyi. Although he had adequately shown his respect to Jingyi, he was friendlier to him, which intrigued him. Jiāng reasoned that he believed that a dragon's existence seemed rather lonely, because after all, according to a Chinese proverb, "it is lonely at the top." Sometimes dragons are prideful creatures, but it, but he could only be intrigued by this standpoint. Thus, the traveler would come to his river to tell him stories about all the adventures he had been on, often times exaggerating for the sake of entertaining Jingyi and amusing him with the absurdity of his stories. He cherished the closeness they shared and the stories Jiāng shared with him, whether they were real or nonsense. Though he never told him this, Jingyi grew to love him as much as he would a lover, so when he died, as all mortals do, the dragon grieved for weeks, causing rain to fall upon his domain and cause intense flooding. Jingyi took his sword, which he has kept ever since. There are times where he sits idle in the river, reminiscing about their times together with a sad look on his face as he polishes and maintains the sword.

Abilities:

- Weather control: Quite self-explanatory. Within his domain, Jingyi can change the weather.

- Water manipulation: Alongside being able to control water, he can also turn his body into the properties of water.

- Enhanced physical abilities: Jingyi possesses strength, speed, and prowess that far exceeds the potential of humans.

- Grant Blessing: Jingyi can grant several blessings to individuals, such as blessing of fortune, blessing of strength, blessing of stamina, etc. The strength of the blessing depends on how earnestly he grants them.

Weaknesses:

- Affecting the river. The river he resides in is his life source, so if it becomes dried up or polluted to the point where life cannot reside within it, he will die. However, if the river gets refilled after being dried or gets purified after being heavily polluted, it is possible for him to become reborn. However, he will have no memories of his past life.

Trivia:

- One time, Jingyi was so grateful for Jiang's company and stories that he offered him riches and splendor. Jiang humbly declined, stating that the time he spends laughing together with Jingyi is already a great treasure in itself. Jingyi cherishes these words and agrees with the sentiment.

- Strangely enough, he goes swimming with his clothes on. When he gets out of the water he's completely dry though.

- Although he is a dragon, Jingyi mainly eats plants. He doesn't really eat shrubs, bushes, and grasses, but he prefers the taste of minty herbs, flowers with sweet nectar, fruit, and sugarcane growing along the river. He's a picky eater, and he's inclined to eating sweet, fragrant foods. When he chooses to eat meat, he mainly eats fish and other seafood.

- His favorite food is honeycomb.

- He spends a lot of time sleeping. When he does, he's usually sleeping in the water, where he is formless.

- He's stoic af. It's been hard to catch him with a smile since Jiang died.
