Would you trust someone who looks evil and treacherous? Would you trust someone who seems welcoming and affable? Son messes with that type of mindset. Always, he murders everybody he meets unless he's told not to.
Try imagining the child of a skin walker and an alternate and give the child fur, that's practically what Son is. He's in the constant need of fulfilling his purpose while given the chance of freedom, and if otherwise, he assumes he'll be seen as exploiting this privilege.
