Profile

(Pronounced MEE-roth)

Occupation: King
Age: 32
Species: Coatl

Mirroth is the gentle but useless King of the Coven. He's strikingly handsome for a coatl; some say his looks are the real reason Vollenth chose him for her mate. Make no mistake, though, for his wit is as sharp as his charm.
The King is kind towards just about everyone, but he really goes out of his way when it comes to hatchlings - especially his own. He often drops by the Coven's hatchery with tons of goodies and treats for the little ones. They're always thrilled to see him, as his visits are like their version of Christmas.
As someone who was scrolled into a coatl, Mirroth struggles with speaking in any language. When he was a guardian, his voice was rich and deep; now it's raspier and has a characteristic hiss to it. He has trouble enunciating and relies on a device crafted by Vorsic to translate for him. Nalani has been giving him language lessons so that he can speak properly, but they have yet to pay off.

Mirroth may put up a jubilant and calm facade, but deep down he's constantly exhausted. As King he's in charge of many menial yet strenuous tasks, and managing them is both stressful and taxing. When something goes wrong, a large purchase needs to be made, someone wants to join or leave the clan, the food stores are running low, or anything else even remotely important requires attention, he's the one that needs to sort it out. He's managed to push some of the worst tasks to the Council, but it still requires a herculean effort to stay on top of things.
Mirroth's way of coping with stress involves long, solitary flights around the Craterlands. He rarely has time for such things, but sometimes when he's feeling especially overwhelmed, he'll sneak out and do them anyway. He usually takes his familiar along with him, both for companionship and protection. Vollenth hates it when he shirks his work like this, but she has yet to forbid it for whatever reason, so his excursions continue.
Sometimes Mirroth feels like a prisoner in a gilded cage. He's in charge of managing plenty of tasks, but at the end of the day he has no real power - he can't even leave the Coven's territory without Vollenth's permission. Still, despite the tedium of his day-to-day life, he's never once complained to anyone about it. He believes his misery is his own burden to bear.
