Damian is a hybrid of two species who aren't supposed to breed. As a result, his body's weird.
His father's from a race of tentacle monsters who can control bodies from the inside and his mother is human. Damian somehow manages to be both: he's a tentacle monster piloting the human(ish) body he was born in.
