About

Instinctual • Violent • Clumsy • Hungry

Birthed in the depths of The Devilspawn, Black♦Jack did not entirely spawn of its own volition. Instead, it was a mere experiment, a side project, reanimated partially by the work of Dr. FeverPitch, and partially by the copious amount of magic swirling about the pits.

A simple amalgam of plundered skeletal segments and outgrown carapices, the creature is mindless and feral. Having quickly escaped the confines of The Devilspawn, Black♦Jack roams the surface like a wild, feral animal, violently attacking anything that crosses its path. While capable of stealing souls, Blackjack serves as a perverse mockery of the sport come to life. Its movements are sloppy, unbalanced, and graceless, and when feeding, it takes any bit of a person's psyche it can get a hold of and rends it, leaving its victims dead and and near unrecognizable.

Build

  • Body Type: Insectoid, Mantis-based
  • Height: 7ft 5in / 2.3m
  • Length: 5ft 4in / 1.6m (w/o tail)
  • Weight: 431lb / 195kg

Possessions

  • None
"Yeah, he was dead. Jake was... yeah... yeah, he was all messed up." -Donovan Saint, The Polson Report interview. 1972.

Biology

• Devil comprised only of hollow carapice and skeletal frame. No internal structure whatsoever.

• Devil is covered in a toxic black sludge capable of multiplying its own cells. Sludge grows by approximately 3 ounces every 24 hours.

• Sludge is cold and exposure to the substance causes carcinogens to develop in the bloodstream and tissues at a rapid rate.

• Sludge absorbs most physical attacks, but can be destroyed with fire. The devil does not feel pain.

Influence

• While the devil does feed off souls, it does so not to compete or participate in devil society, but only with only animalistic, base intent.

• The devil does not take anything in particular, just anything it can get, anything that sates it for the time being, often leaving victims spiritually (as well as physically) mangled.

• The devil has yet to have any thralls as there has yet to be a single person who has survived an attack.

• Despite this, the devil seems to have quite an influence on the surface world, becoming an urban legend for many small towns, and seeding a belief in monsters and magic amongst humanity once again.

FeverPitch

Arguably, the devil's creator. The devil, of course, has no regard for the subject, and likewise, the subject sees her creation as just another experiment. She appears to mostly use the devil as a form of punishment for thralls unable to complete her tasks, and otherwise, has little concern about its activities on the surface world.
