I won the contest!

Judge: Breeze Paradox

Bio:

Legends say that she suffers from something. Something so dangerous it can rupture a soul. Something so deadly it can poison one’s life. She has a shattered spirit.

She’s had a rough life, but she won’t speak of it. The other Kalons are puzzled. Their lives, like jigsaw pieces, perfectly put together. While Darcy’s couldn’t click anywhere.

One Kalon ~who would rather stay anonymous~ was more curious than the others about this girl, this isolated, introverted girl.

One time, he saw her conversing with another Kalon. Darcy whipped around and began to tear through the golden stalks of wheat that were glimmering and glistening with each stride.

He managed a safe, unseen distance from Darcy. She kept going into a maze of thorns. Eventually, she kept dashing about to where the anonymous Kalon lost her. He huffed in frustration, as the luscious spikes dig into his broad shoulders.

Finally, an opening! He collapsed, completely forgetting his cover. She sat in the middle of the grove. Well taken care of, and since no Kalons enjoy getting lost and scratched up, no one dared ventured here. Until Darcy.

She sashayed to the water, tearing up as she stared at herself.
“You’ve come here to make fun of me, haven’t you?”

“No, I swear that-“

“You’re lying.”

“No I swear by the gods, I wanted to know why you’re so sad.”

“By all twelve? You won’t hurt anything here.”

“By all the twelve! Did you make all of this?” He gestured to the plants.

She completely ignored the Kalon and grabbed a rose with her teeth.

He decided that it would be better to not ask questions, as she didn’t seem like the social type. He didn’t want to get kicked out as soon as he set foot here.

She continues until there was a stone sticking out of the ground. She placed the delicate rose on the chiseled rock. Her head hung down low.

Darcy shot a glare, and he followed suit. Then he looked to see carved writing, RIP Jack. Shame flooded in him as he noted the broken heart on her tail.

“Oh. I’m so sorry.”

“He was my mate.”

“Couldn’t you find another?”

“I’m not ready to move on. It’s not that simple. Now you know why so go away.”

Three Kalons came forward. One was the one Darcy spoke to before she ran off. She hissed as they tried to come more forward. “Why can’t you just leave me alone?” Darcy glanced at the threesome, she obviously knew them from somewhere.

"Am I missing something?" Her eyes shot over her best chance at help, and the unknown Kalon was willing to assist.

"They're going to hurt him. They did when he was with me."

The tombstone began to violently shake as all the five watched. A blue fog, no a spirit rose out of the ground.
Darcy watched with a gleam in her eyes.

"Hello, boys." An echo came from the ghostly Kalon.

The bullies curled up, paralyzed by fear, cowering and sinking into each other.

"You'll never come back again, will you?"

They shook their heads and fled, yelping as they ran into the thorns.

The ghost, Jack, nuzzled Darcy, as she leaned on him. "I'm not ready. I never got to say goodbye."

"You can now. It's time for both of us to move on, I will be there when we reunite. I promise."

He picked up the rose an tucked it in her hair. He floated back to his grave, paused, and pivoted. "Thank you, stranger. Take good care of my girl, you hear?"

"Yes sir, Jack sir." His jaw was still dropped as he flew back into the ground, his soul finally at peace.

"Oh yeah, what's your name?" Darcy asked calmly.

"It's a secret." He replied with mischievousness in his voice.
Darcy smacked the water as it sloshed onto his soft fur.
"Very funny."

A light chuckle rang throughout the garden, as Darcy turned around.
She grinned softly, "Goodbye."
The Kalon eyed her tail as the pieces of her fractured heart formed into it's proper shape.

Perhaps it's possible for all spirits to be rekindled by hope, strength, and a bond so tight, even life couldn't break their extraordinary song.
