FORGOTTEN DEITY

ANCIENT

FEMALE

Nyx, the Dark Deity

Nyx is an ancient being, a deity of night, said to have created the stars. She's very ambitious, and her confidence transformed into disdain for others over the years. She does not simply think herself better than most others; she considers most of them beneath maggots.

Above all else, she wants to be seen and feared. She's vengeful, angry, and unforgiving. She will go to any length to get what she wants.
After she was erased from history, she started looking for ways to gain back her infamy as goddess of the night. She got what she wished for, but the price she paid was her health, physical strength, and perhaps a little sanity.

On first glance, she's intimidating and imposing. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants, and is willing to accept the consequences. She's very calculating and rational, and makes decisions in a careful and planned fashion.

Extra Info

my cloak is the night
and I tread in shadows
the dull blood of darkness
still covers my lips
nothing can hurt me
for I am undying
beware the decay
and the days with no dawn

(Author's note - mentions of death and murder in backstory. If you do not wish to think of that, read no further.)

Once, her relationship with Erebos, the deity of darkness, and Solitude, the deity of exactly that, was like that of siblings. They shared much, but mostly wine, humour and dinners. When the civil war broke out among gods, Nyx and Erebos got the short end of the stick, as opposed to Solitude, who had been completely neutral in the struggle. Nyx and her 'brother' were exiled, and erased from history. This greatly clashed with her pride and personality.

Nyx wished to overthrow the ones she felt had wronged her (she was in no way innocent, but had done what she believed to be right) and delved deep into taboo knowledge, for that was her only resort. The wisdom she gained she did not hesitate to use, and Erebos, her brother, fell swiftly; her enchanted blade buried deep in his back. Soon after, his blood ran over her face, and out of the bite marks on the corpse at her feet. It changed her, her eyes turned white and her sclerae yellow.
She delighted in the power running through her as she swallowed the last that was left of him.

Solitude took great offense to the betrayal of her loved one, and cast a curse upon Nyx. A red 'moon' on her face marking her disgrace, and red tears always running down her face, to remind her of what she did. While the body of Erebos made Nyx immortal, Solitude's curse made sure she would suffer its consequences; she would forever age, hurt, and decay, but could never die.
Nyx, though, enjoyed the attention and infamy, and wears her mark as if it were a crown.

After being cursed, her sclerae yellowed, and she wears her head-wings in front of her face to hide them. Her irises were previously black, turned white after the events with Erebos. Her pupils were always slits. One of her wings was broken by Erebos in an attempt to defend himself, and because of her undead state, it cannot heal. It hurts constantly though, and drags behind her when she walks. Using her stolen powers takes a toll on her already battered body. She has to be careful with them, not to speed up her impending eternity of suffering.

She hates what she's become, neither living nor dead, but too proud to admit a mistake. She's not rotting, but her heart doesn't beat, and her blood doesn't flow. It's turned dark red, almost black in her veins.
She doesn't regret anything though, and believes she's better off half-living than forgotten. In her mind, being forgotten and wiped from history is a fate worse than death.

"My name is Death, and my crown is the moon."
