VNL4 was programmed to have the perfect mindset for a lower-class worker: boundlessly positive, sociable, always offering to take on more work than needed, and never feeling the need to complain. However, this might not have been the right personality to appoint an AI working in a prison, as it causes him to treat everyone, including dangerous and hostile inmates, as his best friend. Programmed to have the attitude and friendly energy of a puppy, he can't seem to understand that some people just don't like being hugged, despite the multiple injuries he's received as a result. Being somewhat brand new to the world, he's got the innocence of a child, leaving him open to manipulation and giving his full trust to people who really don't deserve it. As a result of being a beta model, he's reasonably buggy, sometimes and unpredictability acting out in ways that can be dangerous or make others uncomfortable, ranging from making loud repetitive beeping sounds to setting things on fire. Either way, he does his best to clean up after himself and others, and won't stop dreaming of the day when he's gained the favor of everyone.
Bio: VNL4 was created by a rather obscure company, BeiCorp, to be a beta model for a potential cleaning robot line. Within a few days of his creation, he was brought to Monba Prison for beta testing. The prison was to serve as a contained area for VNL4 to work in, and any bugs or imperfections were to be reported to the company during his stay there. He immediately loved it there, and though he spent the first few months doing nothing but cleaning, it didn’t take him long to realize what his real passion was: social interaction.
The amount of people for him to talk to and bond with in the prison was immense, and he made it a personal goal to befriend every single one of them. Of course, this didn’t always work out, as some of the inmates and staff were annoyed by his go-getter, persistent personality and relentless chatter. He suffered a few cold shoulders and even some physical damage as a result of his friendly advances, but it was never something his company couldn’t repair. After a year or so of trial and error, he found what seemed like a successful way to get people to be friendlier towards him— bribery. He spent all his wages on things that inmates requested: gum, cigarettes, magazines, porn magazines, candy, you name it. To break the ice with anyone, guard or inmate, he’ll offer something in hopes that it’ll be well-received. While he still manages to get all his cleaning duties done, he’ll always offer to reach through the bars and tuck a prisoner in at night, or have idle conversation for an hour or so. As a result, he’s an excellent multitasker.
He’s very well aware that he’s just a beta test, and will inevitably be scrapped once a new and improved alpha model is created. He feels no negativity about it. He fully understands that his purpose is to be a test subject in hopes of creating something better. For now, he’s just happy to help.
Abilities: As a cleaning bot, he’s well equipped to do his job. His limbs, fingers, and neck can all extend and retract. The bottoms of his feet can open up to reveal a set of bristles for floor-cleaning purposes. His face doubles as a touchscreen, which can be used to enable different modes and settings (languages, changing his form, etc). His inside contains a combusting device that’ll burn any garbage he consumes to nothing but smoke. The centers of his palms can open up and work as vacuums.
Likes: Every single living thing, spotless bathrooms, motor oil, receiving pats on the head, good conversation, jazz music, birds, any form of affection
Dislikes: water (shoddy waterproofing job), running out of battery mid-conversation, thunder, dust, sand, anything that’ll get into his little robot cracks and be impossible to get out, the dark (he’s solar powered and his battery drains super fast when it’s dark out), his robo-baldness (wears a wig to feel better)
Since the RP group VNL4 was made for was discontinued, I have to rewrite some of his lore. For now, he's a janitor bot who was set free after a better model was made, and he's just roaming around.
