Buttons

Buttons began her life as a stray, wandering the streets until she found her way into the heart of a young girl: the daughter of a suburban family. She came and went freely for many years, always returning to the safety of her friend, until the family moved away. Buttons lingered, waiting for her friend to return. That hope bound her soul to the world long after her body faded. Her spirit attached itself to a toy the young girl left behind: a soft stuffed cat with a painted box head. Her cute and cuddly appearance reflects the part of her that still longs for love. On the inside, however, not all is soft and gentle. Her fear and sorrow twisted into something darker. When overcome with negative emotions, Buttons' lid springs open to reveal a ghostly skull, the raw form of her grief. To those who treat her gently, she is simply Buttons the stuffed cat. But to anyone who may harm her, the box will open, and the spirit of the forgotten stray within will spring free.

In her grief and longing she has forgotten her name. 'Buttons' is the stuffed cat she possesses. Currently she has no official pre-death design, though I've been picturing her as a ginger tabby.
