    formed from the waste left behind by the scientists on cinnabar island in kanto, jewel spent most of her time nestled in the dormant volcano waiting for trainers to come by. she went largely unnoticed by the scientists due to her ability to blend in with normal garbage bags, but she was lonely.
    when a trainer did arrive, she was so excited! but it soon became clear that her noxious breath was harmful to any prospective human friends, in some cases even life threatening. the scientists on the island finally found her after a serious incident or two with visiting trainers and put out warnings to anyone passing through to give any trash bag pokemon a wide berth to avoid breathing in her poisons.
    upset and even lonelier, she returned to the caverns in the volcano to avoid bringing any more harm. she found many beautiful gemstones and, without much else to do, started collecting them. other cave-dwelling pokemon were attracted to her unusual adornments, and she slowly began to befriend a few!
    at one point, she found a vein of the island's eponymous gemstone. its beautiful deep red caught her eye, but she soon noticed that no other pokemon would near it! she asked some of her new friends why and they explained that its high mercury content made it deadly to most and that inhaling even a little bit of its dust could be harmful to their tiny bodies. she looked again upon the gems and saw her own reflection in them, and though she couldn't safely add any to her collection, she often came back to visit them. just to keep them company, you know!
    her friends think she's a bit of an oddball, but hey, it makes her feel better to "help" something through the loneliness she knew too well.
