Summary
Kaspar was once the rightful heir to a region in Midveil that no longer exists, called Marciela. Although the monarchy has been deposed and Marciela hasn't existed since Kaspar was a very young strudel, he still dreams of one day taking back his throne and claiming what he considers to be his blood right.
Despite his dreams of being a monarch, Kaspar is still disgustingly wealthy. He prefers to be waited on hand and foot, but in recent years he has taken to learning how to do things on his own. As he's grown older he hasn't developed a more stable plan for taking back his throne, having a poor grasp on the political situation and the recovery of his people in the years since his family was deposed. Kaspar struggles to trust others and struggles even harder to let go of his dreams, which are unrealistic at best, and unhealthy at worst.
Personality
Delusions of grandeur are often at the forefront of Kaspar's mind. He would see himself as a reasonable and fair ruler, if only he were allowed to sit on the throne in the first place. He can be arrogant and stubborn, a poor listener and lacking in empathy, but he is also forgiving and intelligent. He strives to be a person others likes, although he struggles to understand exactly what others like about people in the first place. Most of the relationships throughout his life have been purely transactional, even when it came to his family as a young Strudel.
Kaspar has a taste for the finer things. He likes silks, furs, rich foods, and pearls, often draping his body in as many plush and shiny items as he can manage while still looking tasteful. He often dreams of having a palace by the sea, where he can hire divers to dig up oysters for their pearls, and so he can take a walk on the seashore in the evening. He can be prissy, not wishing to get his paws dirty. But he also wants to prove that he has some bravery in him. He doesn't back down from any dare, regardless of how unhappy it will make him or how unlikely he is to succeed.
Kaspar has little real-world experience, and often sees his childhood as the best days of his life, having been someone who lived in the lap of luxury. After his family was deposed from the throne, his life drastically changed, and he often blamed his parents for their downfall, finding them to be vain and self-centered. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but Kaspar sees his own self-righteous campaign for restoration to be one that will ultimately make others happy, and make him a loved figure in the centerpiece of the people he purports to rescue. He has a poor understanding of the politics and reality surrounding what it would take to put him back on the throne, and assumes most people who don't like him are plotting against him.
In Relationships
Kaspar is reluctant to make friends, having a hard time trusting others and letting them in. He's not one to listen when it comes to being told that his goals of dictatorship are just a little bit insane, and that his people - who have long since moved on from the monarchy of his family - are more likely to reject him than welcome him with open arms. He needs a little bit of suspension of disbelief from anyone who wants to get to know him.
However, once his walls are broken down, Kaspar is a deeply tragic individual, clinging to a fraying thread of hope that he simply refuses to let go of. He knows, deep down, that he will never be a king. At his heart, he simply wants people to like him - and honestly, there's not a whole lot of substance that is there to like. Anyone who wishes to be friends of Kaspar should know that he might find interest in whatever they like to do, simply because he's had one focus his entire life, and hasn't provided himself the time or room to explore hobbies or interests.
Gifts are his predominant love language. Once someone has earned his trust and affection, Kaspar is likely to shower them in their favorite items, whether that be their favorite clothing, baked goods, or something else - crafted by only the most skilled hands, of course. In exchange, he needs only their company, and a stable, steady ear to listen to his concerns and worries.
