Sabnock is an ancient high ranking demon who was once both rival and friend to Sparda before the latter chose to fight for humanity. Originally an antagonistic force againt humanity for their inferiority, Sabnock was convinced by Sparda in the aftermath of a duel to agree to fight for humanity with him. Though a demon, they developed a strong sense of morality and very human traits, eventually understanding just why Sparda took up his sword for mankind. Initially affiliated with Charon, Sabnock became a sort of guardian to the hunters affiliated with The Garden of Eden. Upon meeting Dante, Sabnock became a regular in Devil May Cry.

Development

To be quite honest I always liked the whole shtick of the Ars Goetia so I kind of just ended up having to. I might end up making more Goetia OCs for DMC who knows bruv

Sabnock's themes follow that of King Solomon, the Ars Goetia and the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum. Their imagery follows those of tortured souls, fallen angels, and kings; based off the themes that come from the three sources.

Personality

Sabnock is a cheery and chipper demon, who likes to do things that they find enjoyable. A bit of a fidget, it's difficult to find Sabnock in the same place for long. They take things rather lightly, even in the face of an Apocalypse. In the end, the job to them is all in a day's work!

As they go by gender neutral pronouns, they mostly simply cannot decide on what gender they want to go by. Even as a demon, they simply found themselves as just a being. They don't really look too much into their presentation, mostly because of their indecision. It matters little to them how humans and other beings refer to them.

Biography

One of 72 Elite Demons which were then documented by King Solomon in his Key, Sabnock was a Marquess among Presidents, Princes, Dukes, Knights and Kings. Sabnock and their siblings were Mundus' Elite Soldiers, and were feared by most demons who held less power than they.

Trivia

• Sabnock does meet Bael and Berial in the events of Devil May Cry 4, stating that it's been a long time since he's sealed them away. They express bitterness that even sealingg them away to be punished had not changed them. Likewise, both Bael and Berial insult Sabnock for becoming soft. When Dante obtains Pandora and Lucifer, Sabnock allows Dante to keep the weaponized soul of their fallen siblings.
• On some occasions, Dante will lend Pandora and Lucifer to Sabnock. He finds himself unsurprised by how the weapons and their temporary wielder seem to share in what can only be described as a spiritual and psychic connection. Sabnock is the only other hunter who can truly master these two Devil Arms.
• When dealing with the wider world, Sablock follows the tradition of keeping an alias. Their name, Sage Nahman, is a variant of the Hebrew "Nahum", meaning comforter. This was likely a human name given to them by Solomon.
• The Solomon Ring weapon is a very obvious nod to the Seal Of Solomon, the signet ring attributed to King Solomon himself.
