bio

Amaryllis is the muse of Gardeners. She has the affinity to bless landscapers, topiary artists, bonsai artists and anyone that has a creative green thumb. They are her favourite type of people; calm, caring, nurturing and the type to enjoy the small things. Their fame is niche and their followings are smaller, which is an intimate environment that Amaryllis really enjoys. She approaches her artist the same way they approach their art. She is kind and caring, and focuses on nurturing their spirit and their talent. Gardening is all about patience and Amaryllis embodies this.

But things weren't always this way. In her younger years, Amaryllis used to get jealous of the other muses. Poets, musicians, artists... they all burned brighter, caught more attention and reveled in the lime light. After her first artist passed away, a landscaper for a palace, her attention began to shift. She wanted a taste of the faster life that she saw others have. The king's painters, the musicians that used to come... they would get to go to the fancy parties and eat rich food and talk and laugh with important people. Human fascinated her and she wanted a chance to inspire a name that would truly go down in history.

The first person she inspired outside of her preference was a young musician. While he experienced a rise in fame, he would never surpass those who has muses with an affinity for music. It wasn't until Amaryllis inspired a landscape painter that things really began to take off. He rose through the ranks, selling paintings at galleries and brushing elbows with humans that had higher and higher social status. Amaryllis would disguise herself and appeared as the painter's lover, and would accompany him to all of his parties and ceremonies. But it was also with him that she learned fame comes at a price.

The painter's eye was caught by the other women of higher social stature than Amaryllis. Though she had been the one to help him rise to where he was, it was those women that could keep him there. He became flirtatious and stopped bring Amaryllis to his events. She felt increasingly lonely as he saw her less and less. He used her, drawing upon her talents to paint only to throw her away when she wanted company.

The day Amaryllis caught him cheating was the day that painter died. In a rage she drained his life, revenge for the abuse and the neglect she had felt all that time. Afterwards she fell into a deep depression. She felt easily discarded, worthless and lonely. It took her a long time to find someone to inspire again, to be able to risk offering her love. For a while she was afraid that she might die because she wouldn't find anyone worthy enough to make a deal with. But eventually she did...

Now Amaryllis has gone back to her roots and inspires gardeners. She loves walking through their gardens on sunny days, or looking at their beautiful sculptures that have come out of years of cultivation. Her and her artists both understand what it is to care for something and coax it into growing into something beautiful, and it's these types of people that she loves the most.
