Ranna is full of contradictions. She's allergic to responsibility, yet if she has any obligations she'll see them through to the end; she's approachable, yet keeps her distance; she appears carefree to the point nothing fazes her, yet there's a seriousness about her she can't shake off, particularly when it comes to duty and loyalty. She'd much rather maintain her slacker persona, but her time as a knight in training left its mark.

Ranna had long aspired to join the Royal Guard and was accepted into a training programme at Bellfall Academy at a young age. She took a long time to blossom, but when she did, her mother fell ill and passed on, leaving her sister, Rory, alone. Ranna was forced to quit her training and return home to look after her. While Ranna loved her sister too much to resent her for this, she always wondered what might have been. Once Rory was able to look after herself, Ranna set off to travel the world and hone her skills. Though much time has passed and she's tried to distance herself from it, she still has a fondness for the royal splendour of Bellfall.

Her favourite hangout is the Short Fletcher Tavern, where she always makes sure to challenge Talia to a drinking contest while trying to ignore the exasperated looks she gets from Aubrey.
