01’s story starts during the year 2049, 25 years after the apocalypse started with a man named Misaki. Misaki was a man who hypothesized that it was more plausible for humankind to survive if it was combined with the parasites, hoping eventually the 2 would evolve together instead of against each other. He spent a little over a decade trying to prove his ideology by creating a controlled infected human, normally a parasite will use a person as its host and eventually break out of the body like a shell into a physical state. When bringing 01 back to life, a person he only found deceased and never knew alive, he spent the next 5 years controlling and containing the parasite that reanimated them while also keeping their likeliness hidden by creating a false identity for them within this survivors base. 01 has no recollection of who they were before, no emotions and no life purpose. All they know is to serve and protect those within the base as ordered by Misaki. ‘Angel’ was the name given to them as it was a term Misaki created in order to differentiate them from ‘devils’ as they’re created with good intentions though in actuality there is no difference, only a term made to make himself feel better. As 01 becomes their own individual person within the base they rank up in their devil hunters status and end up partnered up with a man named vendetta, two characters who are so similar the only difference is their mortality status. This relationship between 01 and Vendetta, in itself, is what will make the viewer question who actually is the one with humanity still left in them. Automatically we’d assume that of course Vendetta is the one with humanity here but this idea must be questioned. What makes someone human? What does it mean to have humanity? How do our morals align with making us human? Do the acts of being humane really define you to be human? Dictionary definition of being human is only being a part of the species, certain morals did not always exist within humanism. 01 will not develop this idea at this point in time but when we see Vendetta, he thinks of himself of some kind of monster for going against the life he used to live. We also see him project this idea onto 01 when he finds out about their devilish nature, alternatively he also acts on his own instincts when he has to protect himself or others. The viewer is meant to see these contradictions through 01s perspective so they can really understand this ideal very early on. No one is meant to pick a side here because there is no real argument - they mirror each other and that’s what defines their relationship for quite awhile. Because of the fact 01 was only just created recently, they resemble the naked eye. They go through many important stages and emotions in order for the viewer to understand a fraction of what an environment like this can do to you. Love, Grief, Anger, Fear, and much more will have to be navigated as a character who initially felt nothing. Surrounding characters will only create complicated narratives within these discoveries 01 makes. The most important aspect to this experience are the flaws.

Animus Palingenesis I.

directly translating to ‘mind/soul’ and ‘to be born again’ meaning the new parasite would attach itself to a deceased host's brain and manage to control the body through its connected nervous system in order to gain nutrients from whatever the host was able to eat. The parasite originated from a genetic mutation and although it doesn't actually bring the host back to life it seemed that way for a short while during its studies. Large documentation shows that the parasite can reproduce asexually, if it fails to gain enough nutrients to live it will start a process called ‘budding’. This is when a new organism grows out of the body of the parent, in this case when the parent dies the goo like state will harden and the new organism will break out of it with the identical genes and knowledge makeup from its parent. This specific process is what makes the parasite more intelligent as they reproduce, the other form of reproduction they can take is called ‘fragmentation’ by breaking itself into smaller fragments in order to create newer individuals. Fragmentation subtracts its intelligence make up by half compared to when a new parasite is made through budding. Since there were 2 different ways this parasite reproduced it falls under 2 categories; Animus Palingenesis I. and Animus Palingenesis II. Animus Palingenesis I, This is the version of the parasite that births itself out of the deceased parents shell, depending on the aspects of its life is how it decides to reproduce. A failed and dying parasite will create a new organism out of itself and keep the parents genetics and intelligence. For example, let's say it attaches itself to a deceased rat's brain, it will use the instinctual knowledge from the brain of that rat in order to gain the nutrients out of the food it eats through it. This parasite fails if it doesn't adapt quickly enough or not feeding itself enough it will create new life with what it was able to gain. This new organism essentially picks up where the parent leaves off with the knowledge it had previously until its fully successful

Animus Palingenesis II.

A successful parasite will gain enough nutrients to continue the spread of its goo like state through the blood stream in order to absorb larger sums of nutrients, learning how to use the host's body even more over time. Once it's completely taken over the inside of the host the parasite will naturally start its reproduction by splitting itself into smaller parts in order to make more room within its new body, the new organisms will leave the body orally by making the host throw it up. These parasites will be about 5 inches wide stemming out of the rat while looking for a newer host, getting bigger in size with bigger hosts. Once in a new host it will still use its previous knowledge to its advantage. For example, once stemmed out of the rat and now in a bird it will use some of the rat characteristics even as a bird though this will minimize the more it transfers hosts since it only uses half the knowledge of the parent parasite. Animals who act weird or different may be infected by this parasite.

Animus resuscitare

This is the evolved version of animus palingenesis that will take control of a host that's living. In these examples let's say the infected deceased rat attacks another living rat and loses the battle. If the living rat decided to eat that competitor it now becomes infected. The parasite will make the host manic and sporadic while slowly killing the host in order to continue its life. This is the parasite that specifically infects humans and ultimately starts the apocalypse.

• Since 01 is a parasite, they're never attacked by other devils. Seemingly they can communicate with devils without words or much thought, sort of like an instict to fuse together as a part of their species.
• They have a few items they charish that were given to them by Vendetta. Such as; a red beanie with devils horns (which ended up lost but Venny made them the hat they wear now),and a devil plush keychain that's hanged on their gun.
• The person they were when they were alive was russian so now they have a fused russian-english accent as they werent around other russian people to keep that accent going.
• They have to eat other devils when theyre injured in order to replenish the parts of the parasite they lost since the goo like state is in replacement of their blood.
• Eventually 01 leaves their found family in order to learn and develop a life on their own
• P.s yes they ran Vendetta over with a car and somehow he survived it.
