Rei'lio

"Give me one good reason to respect you as a hero."

Rei'lio is easily persuaded and manipulable; he puts on a a grouchy act that is easily broken. He wants more out of life as he's getting older and craves to be remembered. He idolizes Revali's talents and strengths and wants to go down in history like him too. He's scared of beign forgotten. 

Many of his friends were skilled Rito warriors, while he stayed back at Rito Village on the City Watch, where nothing would really ever happen besides keeping out some monsters. He lost many of his friends when they went off to fight and never came back. Now he's worried about getting close to people. He's very caring though. He just doesn't like to show it. 

He acts before he thinks. It's his way of dealing with fear. Everything has become an impulse after years on the city watch. His body tells him when it's time to run verses when it's time to run in head first without hesitation. Sometimes this leads to things he regrets: (running away from a fight instead of giving everything he can...putting others in danger instead of sacrificing himself...like Revali would)

He's very critical. and hypocritical. He holds people to a high standard, and himself less so because he feels like he's done his duty over the years now that he's retired from the city watch (he plays it off as more glamorous than it was).

He's scared of being dull and forgotten, but he hasn't really lived an interesting life up until now. He's always looked up to Revali's amazing ability and he wants to be remembered like him. He wants to prove himself as a warrior as he's going into his old age. But how can he embody Revali without acting a little arrogant himself? He can't. He feels he will better himself/make better progress if he acts like he is ALREADY a champion.

Prove yourself to him as a warrior, as a good person, and he will be on your side!

Relationships: 

Virti: The Hero of Hyrule. Rei'lio resents Virti because he believes that Virti let the champion Revali die (along with the other champions) instead of being a true hero like the others and risking their lives for the cause they believed in. Now Virti gets to live and squander away his chances of being a REAL hero by hiding away and pushing away the people that can help him. He has the chance to be somebody, he has the strength, the training, the opportunity, the title. These are all the things that Rei'lio wanted for himself so that he too could be like Revali. But to Rei'lio, Virti isn't worthy of the title of hero.
