posting a little sneak peak of the collab with PinkishIdiot, heres one of the characters, were both doing a lot of art for this batch so IDK when it will be posted but ideally within next week or week and a half maybe

i am thinking of making 12-20ish characters themed around different courts of literal celestial dragons based on planets/stars in a fantasy planetary system

i am working on this in tandem with my PinkishIdiot collab so we will see which one gets released first :33 2 weeks at most, my big batches usually take me a week/week and a half to complete

there will be half dragons, dragonborn, full dragons, and maybe human/draconic sorcerers

this one is kinda loose inspo from jupiter, like her dad will be a jupiter/fire/magma themed dragon with neptune inspo as well. i plan on including twin sun dragons, a water/cthulu themed lunar dragon and her witch daughters, a lot of dragon/dragonborn knights and a few other planet ideas like an ice planet, a desert planet, a planet of darkness, and different witches based on celestial bodies like comets, constellation dragons, etc. not specifically based on any real mythology but with obvious greek and roman inspo. like the lore idea is that all of the dragons rule over these different planets but also fight with eachother and most of the dragons are super evil and opressive. there is a hierarchy based on how much draconic blood/how much of a "full dragon" someone is, with humans at the bottom. dragonborns and half dragons are basically the same thing, 1/3-1/4 dragons look like tieflings, anything lower than that looks like a human but might have horns or elf ears etc.

if you want to see any specific mythological characters/planets/astral phenomenon u think i could use as inspo post a comment and ill cred u on the character when its made!!

the characters will technically be connected in the batch, but they will have independent enough stories that they don't have to have connected lore if they are bought by different buyers

I want to clarify! I am okay with people referencing me!I have boundaries outlined in my ToS and I rarely take issue with people taking inspo from me and referencing my work. The only thing I ask is that you do not monetarily support @mi11au if they continue to plagiarize me, and please be aware of this behavior when you are buying adopts and art from them. I still think they should be able to have a following and make adopts, I don't want generalized hate towards them, I think they are very talented. I just want them to stop referencing me ;_;
If I take issue with referencing I will always privately DM someone and try to resolve it amicably. This has rarely been an issue for me but as you will see below, this person has directly violated my boundaries twice and ignored what I asked them. So please do not worry if you are someone who references my art, I am not trying to start drama with random people.

A few months ago I got a DM from someone pointing out that @mi11au was making adoptables heavily referencing mine. I will show proof below, and I have all the images on an Imgur photo dump in case they delete or private the characters.

I do want to include context that I released a tutorial for this art style, but I did not expect anyone to use it to plagiarize me. I expected people to use it to make adopts in their own style, just using my tips for inspiration, and a guide on how to get started doing pixel work.

There are some other heavily inspired designs, but these are the worst ones. You can look for yourself in their past designs folder. When I was contacted in DMs about this, these were the designs that bothered me the most.
I decided to DM mi11au March 2, 2026 and basically told them I don't want to deal with drama or people DMing me, and that I think they should reference other people. I'm not going to post direct screenshots (I can if necessary), but trust I was extremely friendly to them in that interaction, basically asking that they would stop referencing me so heavily and that I liked their art, etc. All I asked was that they credited me on their post and in future posts as an inspiration. I ended up following them, and we left things off amicably, I also updated my ToS due to this. I genuinely think they are a very talented person, and when they move away from referencing me, their work is very good.

Usually, I have no issue with heavy reference if it is credited. I think everyone should credit their references which is what I try to do for my batches and characters. They went on to credit me in their future batches as a reference, which I appreciated. For a time they had made some interesting designs that were still using my pixel style, but not directly taking inspo from any specific characters.

I was only prompted to look at their page again when I saw they uploaded this OC June 15, 2026. They have since deleted or privated the character, so unfortunately I can't link it.

This set me off, because she looks nearly identical to my character Yvonne, down to the exact color scheme. I made this art last year.

This was well after I had already asked them to stop referencing me so heavily. I was annoyed and looked at the rest of their page again, to see they had still been using my exact techniques, my canvas color, etc for several batches, including this one released in May 13, 2026.

They had also released f2u bases in the exact same style as mine, uncredited May 20, 2026.

I would not have cared if it was just f2u bases, but they went on to make a batch off of it where the AB for each character was 500$. No characters were plagiarized on this batch but they were still heavily referencing my style uncredited.

I dmed them again when I discovered this on June 15, telling them to stop referencing me, and that I was going to block them. I pointed out all of these things to them, I was very curt but not rude. I blocked them and was happy to leave it at that.
Well, three days rolled around, and they released this batch June 18th, saying "lightly inspired by 2lainn."

Two characters on this batch were directly referenced from designs I've made.

I made this character on a satyr batch on May 12, 2026. The color scheme is almost identical to Cursed Gaze. This one is much lighter ref but I'm still annoyed.

And more offensively to me, Vampire Hunter was shamelessly ripped off of the adopt I had posted THE SAME DAY I blocked them.

Like are we actually fking serious bro   Mind you, this is AFTER I blocked them and told them not to reference me. They literally found a way to work around the block just to rip off characters from me still. Like if I am taking this in good faith, they could have made the batch and did not post it for a few days for some reason, not knowing I would have a problem with how heavily they were referencing me. They still should not have been doing that in the first place, but I understand if they were just oblivious or misread my first warning. But they should not have posted this adopt batch and said it was referenced off of me literally 3 days after I blocked them and told them not to use my art style anymore

It was hard not to go crazy from this whole thing and I was debating whether I should call them out or not. This post took me awhile to write as well because all of this was going down while I was travelling to NC to visit my friends

I have no intention to start drama or "cancel" anyone, I just feel like at this point I should go public about what happened between me and @mi11au because they were still disrespecting my wishes and referencing me very heavily after I've asked them multiple times to stop. Again I do not want them to be harassed, I think they deserve to continue making a living off of their art, they are very talented. But I have asked them multiple times and even gone to the extent of blocking them, and they were still referencing me even after a block.
To be honest, this is the reason I have not released any tutorials since early this year because I did not realize how people would use it. I believe a similar situation happened with puririka (the jelly art style person) where they would release tutorials and then get upset when people basically copied their work verbatim. I really do like seeing people who are inspired by me, I think it should be the dream of any artist to have a lasting impact on their community. But I think releasing art style tutorials invites people to exactly copy your art style which to be honest is not something I want. I think you should incorporate multiple sources when you reference and not just try to recreate 1 other artists' work. That is why I won't be doing any more style tutorials in the future, but I will be doing generalized tutorials and tips still.
I take heavy art style inspiration from animes like Bleach, Hunter X Hunter, Dragon Ball Z, Mappa animation style (CSM, JJK, heavy on JJK); I take a lot of design inspiration from Guilty Gear, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Skyrim, Baldur's Gate, Soul Eater (anime), Dungeon Meshi, SPAWN, Larry Elmore, Conan the Barbarian, and Death Note. I try to incorporate my interest in Jirai Kei, Visual Kei, BDSM fashion, queer/furry/kink clubwear, industrial fashion, EDM/ravewear, lolita fashion, punk fashion; I also take a lot of inspiration from the visual presentation of bands like GWAR, Kiss, and Motley Crue among others. I have never been shy about this and I want to wear my inspirations on my sleeve so people who are into my work can watch and read those things or get into those subcultures. I also think it's very important to cite your sources if you are taking inspiration from historical cultures in your fantasy artwork. In my opinion, your art will be better if you take inspiration from a variety of sources and not just 1 artist, because then your visual library will be limited until you branch out. Pinterest and Toyhouse are pretty bad places to go looking for inspo IMO if you are someone who wants to create a personal brand. Because you are in such close community with other artists and occupying the same markets as them, it is a little more dubious if you are heavily referencing your peers like that

When I see people following my artstyle very closely it definitely motivates me to push myself harder and outpace them, but I would be lying if I said it does not make me feel awkward. I don't think it has ever really threatened my livelihood though, so I have never complained or publicly confronted anyone before about heavily referencing me, I always handle things in private. There was some recent drama surrounding another creator recently that I got multiple DMs about, people asking if they traced me or copied designs. I think they were younger so I didn't really care and stayed out of it, that is usually how I handle this kind of stuff. I am just complaining tbh but it still drives me a little crazy and feel somewhat anxious reading some new plagiarism DM every other week. Like I don't think people understand how often people are DMing me about other people plagiarising, tracing, or claiming my work is their own art. I guess that is a side effect of becoming a large artist, and I should not complain because I get an overwhelming amount of support otherwise. I just feel frustrated when this happens to me multiple times per week or month.
This has contributed a lot to my inactivity ;_; I guess I just want to say for the future to anyone reading this, please do not reference me this heavily. I have it outlined in my ToS what I find acceptable levels of referencing. If it goes beyond that, I will DM you and try to sort things out privately.

The thesis/TLDR of this whole post is that I think people should:
1) Credit their inspo publicly
2) Take inspiration from a variety of sources not including Toyhouse and Pinterest
