Hailing from the coastal town of Southvale, Alex is a guy in his 20s who isn't quite ready to stop being a kid just yet. He's got a love of drawing and video games, and proudly wears his heart on his sleeve, but otherwise there's not too much to write home about him. Outside of the fact he hangs out with yokai, of course.
Ever since he got ahold of the mysterious North Star Yo-kai Watch, Alex's life has taken a turn for the weirder now that he's able to see these ghostly creatures. He's even got his old dog-turned-yokai Snowbell helping him out! In the months that followed, Alex's kind heart and oddball personality have won over the friendship of quite a few yokai (including a few notoriously wicked ones!).
Though, while Alex's time in the Yo-kai World has been a fun one, the same can't be said for his everyday life in the human world. He's only getting older, and there's still a lot of things he hasn't figured out yet. Between searching for a well-paying job, keeping ties with his human friends, struggling with disability, and trying to stay kind in a seemingly-increasingly cruel world, Alex has a lot to deal with alongside the whole yokai thing and just wanting to enjoy life.
Being an adult is hard.

Alex
For years, Alex was just your average ordinary kid. Then, at the age of 24, one fateful post-Christmas day, he recieved a gift from his long-lost dog Snowbell.
Now, he's still an average ordinary guy, he just can talk to ghosts now. Things have gotten pretty interesting since then, to say the least!
North Star Watch
As most modern yokai-consorting folks would know, a Yo-kai Watch is a device that allows humans to see hidden yokai, as well as summon them by using special medals. While the look of these "watches" sometimes differs, generally they all serve the same general function. Humans who use yokai watches are known as "watchholders".
Alex's signature item is the North Star Yo-kai Watch ("North Watch" for short), a watch in the style of an antique brass compass. Despite its apparent age, it still functions well, and even the weathered glass lens looks clear when it's being used.
A unique quirk about the North Watch is while it doubles as a compass, it almost never points north. Rather, it can track and point towards hidden yokai, and even guide its holder in the right direction should they ever get lost.
Alex typically wears the North Watch around his neck like a pendant, particularly when he's out on a case for the Kuzunoha Detective Agency. In general public, he tends to keep it in his coat pockets as to not attract any human attention; he's shy enough as it is, and boy would it be awkward trying to explain it to regular people.
Yokai medals are typically stored in book-like "Medallium" albums. Alex, however, stores most of his medals in a cute patterned wallet he got as a souvenir in the Yo-kai World.
