A woman is standing before him. She seems tall, because he is kneeling on trembling, newborn legs; she smiles at the way he wavers, lifting a finger to the pink curve of her lips, and she speaks in a voice like the hum of ten thousand bees. "ALL YOU HAVE LEFT IS GOSSAMER - there is no way forward for you and no way back. But I wonder...if someone reaches out their hand to you, will you still be bold enough to take it?"

She extends her hand to him. Almost imperceptibly, a huge hound melts from the treeline like the shadow of a cloud.

He takes her hand.
