Profile

Name: Ciel

Age: 30

Species: Sylphian (fantasy race)

Sexuality: Bi

During the war, Ciel's species were the invading force, seeking to conquer other nations and impose their strict rules when it came to marriages and eugenics. They believed that marriage was about  creating the best possible offspring, and if you were deemed genetically inferior, you were unable to marry and forcibly sterilized. Ciel was born to a wealthy family, promised off to the daughter of another family, but unbeknownst to any others, he had fallen for someone considered genetically inferior. He loved her so much that he made plans to run away with her and find some island they could live on together and hide from the country. Of course, his parents found the letters and were able to track her down and imprison her for seducing their son, shipping her off to unknown places as a slave and POW. Of course they believed he was tricked and manipulated and didn't place any blame on him, no matter how much he fought, and so he left, searching the world for her.

Eventually, he was attacked by a rebel group, but upon being captured, he surrendered and explained his story, promising to help them topple the system he had grown up in, the one that had broken his heart and betrayed him.  It took some convincing, but seeing how eager he was to give information to them, they took him in and let him join their ranks. He fought with them for some time, until he was recruited to join the militia that had come together as combined forces from the other races. It took time for him to gain their trust, but he became a valuable addition and was able to provide all sorts of intel they otherwise wouldn't have known.

During the height of the war, he was part of a caravan to find and recruit rebel groups and private militias, anyone they could find for the cause. He typically stayed back a bit, but was met with positivity once they realized he was their ace up their sleeve. He went around pretending as if he was a castrated genetic reject with no title, so as to not alarm the others or let anyone from his homeland know where he was, and he even  let his once pristine feathers grow disheveled and dirty, making them seem discolored and ragged.

While traveling, he met a naga named Agni, who had joined a resistance movement when his hometown was taken over by the Sylphians. Agni was by no means the first naga he had met, but the man was definitely the most unique. Over time, he got to know the naga, and he was surprised to find that he was quite the bookworm, and had only developed his strong physique through rigorous training. Back in his homeland, Ciel had been quite the academic, and they got along well, spending hours together talking of their shared interest. They grew close, with Agni behind him every step of the way in his quest. It wasn't until another year later that they got word of a woman who matched the description of his love. Finally! They made plans to investigate and see if she needed rescuing, and they managed to find her in the market of a rundown area. Overwhelmed with joy, he swooped in and picked her up into a hug that swept her off her feet. At first, she did not recognize him, and she squirmed out of his grasp, but as she got a closer look, she realized who it was. She broke down crying and told him all about her hardships over the years, how she was forced to do labor and abused under the thumb of her owners, and she went on to talk about a group of vigilantes that freed her and the rest of her group, and brought her here. Ciel promised to bring her someplace safe, but she refused, admitting that she had been told that he was married to his betrothed now, and so she moved on and started a life in the little community. She even had an adopted daughter, an orphaned lizardfolk she had taken care of before her parents passed. She was a medic's apprentice and valuable to the community.

This, of course, broke Ciel's heart. He had spent all this time searching for her, but she had moved on. Solemly, he nodded in understanding, but quickly left, not wanting her to see him cry. The first person he went to was Agni, finding him in his tent, and explaining everything, including who he truly was and who he was intended to marry. Agni comforted him, and some time after he calmed down, all the pent up tension and unresolved feelings for one another burst and they spent the night together. After that, they decided to continue on their mission to win the war, and not start anything serious, but they were both all right with the idea of being friends with benefits, and so they were for the remaining time of the war, at which point Ciel was a decorated Captain and war hero, and Agni retired as soon as the treaty was signed and he was able to see his parents again. A new ruler was reinstated and Ciel was appointed as captain of the newly formed Royal Guard, and he helped this new ruler create an era of peace and work towards undoing what had been done. Him and Agni drifted apart, with the Naga deciding to travel the world as an adventurer and help people, and Ciel tied up in the capital, but they continued to write to one another, and they always enjoyed meeting up for a bit of fun, until he decided he wanted to look into settling down with someone and eventually find someone to marry that he loved. Agni of course, couldn't be tied down, and they parted ways amicably, still staying friends.
