Terminix is a being shrouded in mystery. No one is really sure who or what exactly it is, but there is something "off" about them, something not from this world. An interdimensional mechanical empire took notice of the Vs. Dave Developer Console, and being fascinated by it, created an entity to be its very manifestation, to understand it in exhaustive detail and shape its own being to it. That entity was Terminix. It exists both in and outside of the universe of the game, remembering past versions of it that no in-universe character does.

At first, Terminix was a very literal manifestation of the terminal, only acting in ways exactly as how the game would behave in the same circumstances. >_ was silent except when spoken to, and would only spit out responses matching the terminal's, unable to recognize phrases that weren't commands. It could even replace the entire terminal itself. Terminix only holds the powers that the actual terminal does when substituting itself in the game; otherwise, it does nothing. However, Terminix had no associated .dat file, because it was less of a person so much as it was a piece of software with a mobile body - it could not grant itself admin permissions as a result of this, or directly interact with the timeline and rest of the game, because this was not their created purpose. 

At an indeterminate point in time in a 3.0b copy of Vs. Dave and Bambi, Terminix was taking the role of the terminal when Expunged was granted admin. Expunged, being an entity aware that she's in a game, recognized that Terminix was not an ordinary part of it and became confused. This deviation in the ordinary script forced the timeline data to update to account for Terminix, creating a .dat file for it since it was being treated as a "character" in the eyes of Expunged rather than merely a tool. This .dat file essentially granted Terminix sapience and self-awareness that grew with time the more they interacted with this now-divergent copy of Vs. Dave and Bambi, making >_ question >_'s identity, origins, and purpose. While still remaining deeply fixated on the developer console, Terminix was no longer limited to the console's range of responses, able to have more varied albeit incredibly dry and cryptic conversations with people. Because Expunged is the reason Terminix "became" a person, she is the closest thing to a bond with another person that they have. 

Terminix is unexpressive, deadpan, literal-minded, and apathetic even after gaining sapience. They are curious about the world, but struggle to understand or recognize emotions both from others and >_self, which makes it difficult to connect with >_. >_ can be startled or surprised, which causes >_s pupil to shrink, but not much else. It prefers to observe other people rather than interact with them, but it isn't necessarily shy or anxious. Much of its time is spent absorbing information about the world beyond the console, hoping it may one day understand where it came from.
