Fishcake

The stone within his tail is more important than his loved ones.

The tree branch/bone in his tail is the same material as his ‘fingers.’

Some form of "merman" who lives in Voltage Lake, where electricity dances across its surface. Unaffected by ominous happenings near the river's waters, he travels down the river to the town of outcasts and trades with a smoky haired girl. In exchange for his stories and the lake's rare rocks, the girl constructs the items his fingers don't have the dexterity to build. He comes up with instructions that result in the strangest inventions. 

A creature of self-interest and self-benefit.
