Sly

Childhood: Saranyu’s childhood was a typical one for an Elyrian, with nothing unusual to speak of beyond a fascination with the starts and what was up there. She grew up in a suburbia setting in the Hamonia, a country settled within a sprawling tropical jungle where farming and husbandry practices are the main export. Her father took up a simple job as a local florist, while her mother was the main bread winner as the local Mayor of Wimborne. Due to this, family life may have been a little more strict as far as public appearances went but the Shandana children were more known for pranking, than anything disruptive.

Around the age the human equivalent of 12, first contact with other species had been made despite the Elyrian race already mastering space travel. This gave a global upheaval on the opinion of the universe at large. For Saranyu herself, this planet a seed on wanting to know what the rest of the universe held.

Education & Young Adulthood: With isolationism being the main plan for Elyria and space exploration programs from various countries halted beyond the one moon base, Saranyu’s notion of intergalactic travel dwindled as she took up focusing on work in line with her father’s own. Saranyu took her love of plants and gained a degree in biochemistry while discovering others who were more interested in the stars than what a higher education had to offer.

Post-graduation, instead of joining the work force, the group of friends instead applied for citizenship to the space station on the moon, Kaemes. As this entailed renouncing citizenship of Elyria, there was plenty of angst to be had between Saranyu and her family with a mini political upheaval in Wimborne as one of the Mayor’s own renouncing the citizenship of the entire planet was delicious news fodder. The process had her renounce her legal name and all ties to the planet in compliance with the Elyria First Accord, which places the planet’s safety above all intergalactic relations.

Post-Elyria: The now newly named Sly and her group of college friends set up their own little haven while using the diverse community of the Kaemes space station as a continuation of their education. During these few years, Sly gained new found knowledge on intergalactic flight, spaceships, and how to repair them. She even managed to co-win a bet with a friend and gain herself a stable enough spaceship in a drag race under dubious circumstances. She also refined her skilled in black market trading, as there was a steadfast embargo on the export and import of foreign goods to Illiria. Smuggling seeds out of Elyria was easy enough and the resulting crops made a fine nest egg for Sly.

Once an actual ship was procured, the little rag tag team of former Elyria citizens embarked into the unknown to ply their various trades, hone their skills, and see what the vast universe had to offer.
