Avari

Once the beloved child of a beautiful creature, Avari was given as tribute to the Spring Court when he no longer brought her joy. He grew up in the shade of the splendor of court and was given the job of collecting taxes by the Prince of the Spring Court (Sprince). He had his true name stripped and replaced with a title so the Prince could subjugate him and was ordered never to show his arm, so that the Prince might not fear him.

History

He was born near the ocean. His mother had liked to to say he had been born from the ocean, but he knew he could have come from no other but her. His smoke was the color of her hair, and their eyes matched when she was merry. He would do anything to please her, and was given the free reign that well-behaved children are often allowed wandering the coast until dusk and returning with a flower and a smile. One day his adventures were no longer as gentle, and an accident lost him the favor of his mother, and the ability to hold his shape. Uninterested in having a child that might not be as perfect as she, his mother gave him to the Spring Court to foster. 

They did not mistreat him, raised among the other foundlings and various creatures without origin. In fact, they warded his ring so that he might keep his human shape. But it was a temporary fix, and had to be reapplied every so often or he might just slip away into nothing. Years passed that he held hope his mother would return for him, that he would see her shimmering hair in the crowd. But she did not. Eventually he reached his maturity uneventfully, his calm, unflappable demeanor catching the eye of the Spring Prince and installed as the collector of all debts for the monarch. No longer would he be called Kyrian, but Avari, a title for the symbol of greed that drove the prince. He is free to take his time when collecting what is owed, but must mind how long he's been away from court in case he can never return.

Extra

♦ There is a crack in the ring on his tail, and this keeps him from fully taking shape. His arm is not solid and feels like a cool mist when touched. He can focus and hold onto magic with it! Some fear his arm because he can use it to strangle magical effects.

♦ A short about how his arm came to be. 

♦ Sometimes when he is intense, which is rarely, the ends of his hair curl into smoke as well. His feral form bleeds smoke as if affected by wind.

♦ He's very dry and deadpan and jokes from him never really sound like they are jokes.

♦ Avari is actually a pretty poor liar. If you watch him his eyebrow twitches when he tries.
