As quoted by his party members - "naturally, as a vapid, hollow twink of a man, elias will volunteer for the job." First and foremost Elias is the personification of the knifecat picture and is the kind of guy you'd find wearing tacky snakeskin shoes and leather pants trying to sell you dodgy cocaine in some french nightclub. Elias is extremely intelligent, unfortunately, this only means he is intelligent enough to do what he's doing is a bad choice but his ego provides the padding that whilst it is a bad choice - he's good enough to get away with it. Whilst it is obvious he's a spellcaster of some sort, and certainly comes from rich blood and a spoilt life, he takes great effort to not be immediately recognised as a Necromancer - not due to any shame or fear but because the skull-and-bones, black-wearing, gothy cultist look is so last season.

Despite popular belief, Elias is not evil nor entirely selfish. He's willing to help if it's the right thing to do, but he also will expect a payment. Certainly, there's a soft spot under that rotting heart. Somewhere.

Necromancy Savant

The gold and time Elias must spend to copy a necromancy spell into his spellbook is halved.

Reaper's Remedy

Elias can harvest life from those that die around him. When a creature within 60 feet of him dies, as a reaction he can expend spell slots to regain hit points. He regains 1d8 hit points per level of the spell slot plus his Intelligence Modifier. If the creature dies due to a spell of 1st level or higher hecast, he gain an extra 2d8 hit points.

Bone Hulk

Any corpses animated by his necromancy spells may be twisted to form an amalgamated flesh, using 2 or more raised dead and spending 1 hour of casting. The undead retains it's mental attributes but adopts the physical ones of his chosen creature including attack and any relevant non-magical abilities.

Arcane Recovery

Once per day when Elias finishes a short rest, he can choose expended spell slots to recover. The spell slots can have a combined level that is equal to or less than half his wizard level (rounded up), and none of the slots can be 6th level or higher.

Despite the impression he gives a a haughty, narcissistic, mean-spirited rich kid who became a necromancer (and he is all of those things), Elias is not evil, nor interested in power. Simply, he does whatever he wants because he knows he can get away with it. Though it is rare of him to make connections with others that aren't skin-deep, if given a choice he will do the right thing in the moment. Regardless, he is a Necomancer intent on building the perfect man for himself, and in his first attempts - being so certain of himself - cast a spell far beyond his level. The result was that he is now stuck in a state of not quite undead, not quite living, and his body is beginning to rot. He see's this as no issue. Being incredibly intelligent, he is fully aware of his own issues, behaviour, and bad decisions - but goes along with them anyway, because it's fun. Whilst stuck in Barovia, he replaced his fake eye with the Eye of Vecna, not out of the promise of power, but simply to see what happened. After all, it won't effect anyone but him, so what's the harm?

Youth

Born to a noble family, Elias exceed at many of the studies he was put through and was set to become a well-respected arcanist. However, following his apparent success at everything he tried his hand at, he soon grew bored of all the privileges a noble life and a high intelligence brought him. This led him to study the more taboo and unfavoured kinds of magic and crafts, taking up the belief that since he had spent his whole life being able to do anything he wanted that he had every right to use the bodies and souls of the deceased as his new toys. After several attempts on small animals to create an undead being, he believed he had found yet another thing he had mastered and started his biggest project yet - to create the perfect man. In his first attempt at a spell far higher than his current magical ability allowed, he blighted himself with a large portion of necromancy magic and immediately began suffering the symptoms of the dying; his skin paled, his heart slowed, his nerves felt nothing and he registered as undead - yet he did not stop, only inspired to continue on further. Even when his eye fell out, rotted away from the fact his body was in a permanent state of almost-death now, he simply replaced it and continued on. Elias had never been one for subtletly, and despite dabbling in forbidden magic still wanted everyone to know how wonderful he was - but he had not expected his family to truly disown him, evicting him from their home and leaving him penniless and nameless. Still, he continued on, using what little money he had kept to build his own laboratory where he continues his work to create the perfect man (as opposed to joining a like-minded necromancy cult, which were far too drab for his tastes.)

Barovia

During his time pulled into Barovia, he ended up finding The Eye of Vecna - and immediately (and recklessly) took out his own eye to replace it with Vecna's. Not out of any desire for immortality, godhood or power but simply because he felt if anyone should get it, he should. Since then an odd glowing crystalline structure has been growing out of the empty socket, and the odd desaturation of his skin has gotten worse, now turning his feet and fingers blac
