Profile

King is Maia's brother.

Together with Maia, King awoke in an endless white snow canvas. Not a thing lay in sight but another mysterious female figure who seemed as lost as he. He had no prior memories of how he ended up there, in the middle of nowhere. Curious as the pair were, there was no sign of them finding any answers any time soon. Given their lack of physical similarities, it is doubtful that Maia and King are blood related. However, as they 'awoke' with only the other in the vicinity and with no prior memories, they consider each other as close as if they came from the same womb.

It is unclear how old either of them are, but it can be assumed that King is the older of the two as unlike his sister, King has a much calmer and maturer mindset. He carries himself with an aura of elegance that makes one can't help but think he is of royal descent. Without really meaning to, he acts as Maia's guardian and sets her straight when she thinks too highly of herself and comes off a bit too bratty. King is probably one of a handful that Maia acts immature around as she respects him for being the more grown up sibling.

In contrast to his sister, King is intrigued by humans and spends much of his time people-watching. After parting ways with Maia once the two became more comfortable in their surroundings, King somehow found himself in Japan. He was curious with the gentle nature of the country's people, as unlike many he had met before, they did not seem to exploit him for his gorgeously rich coat or his greed-attracting powers.

He currently resides in a modest Japanese temple at the top of a small hill that he wandered across one night when seeking shelter from the harsh winds. It slightly perked his interest that the temple residents barely raised an eyebrow at his arrival, but instead set him some food and water without a speck of hesitation. This place doesn't seem too bad he thought to himself.

The next morning seemed to be the first day of the new year, as the temple was crawling with hundreds of people looking to offer their prayers. It caught King's attention though, that a large majority of the visitors seemed to be the homeless or those suffering from poverty. Regardless, these people were sweet and sincere, grateful for the temple staff who provided free meals.

Maybe to make up for his somewhat less unique features in comparison to Maia (who has three tails and multiple horns), King was ever so slightly more powerful. Much like his sister, King is able to produce gold. However, unlike the former, his gold slowly forms on the surface of his tongue as if produced from thin air. Even more so, despite only being able to produce it a few times a year, King's gold is real.

Slightly melancholy at the disadvantaged state of the temple's visitors, King let the gold gradually form on his tongue. Once done, he nudged it softly towards the crowd of people with his paw. Shocked at first, the people simply stood frozen, some in disbelief or doubt even. But when it was confirmed that his gift was indeed real, the people thanked him earnestly yet to King's surprise made no efforts to ask for more, simply grateful for their unusual but immense gift.

King keeps up his act of gift giving a few times a year, and that is how is spends his days - comfortable in his endless curiosity of the humans who treat him as a friend rather than worshiping him as a god.
