About
"I am staring at tabula rasa."His real name is Rho Hyun, but he doesn't know this. All he knows is that he was found with a tattered label on his chest reading 'Diesel'.
Diesel was born on Earth, in Daejeon in Korea and was a part of the Korean Deep Space exploration projectas the diesel-powered backup systems engineer, that ended in disaster with an explosion several lightyears from earth. His body, and perhaps others, was recovered by military scientists, employed by the EDF, operating on board the 4401-Halcyon Deep Space Station looking to experiment with soldier advancements. This kind of experimentation is deemed illegal and immoral, but only on a living test subject, and Diesel is just one in many dead bodies revived in an attempt to make soldiers with the intelligence of a human but with the obedience of a machine.
Despite being deemed ultimately unuseful to the military as a fully operational soldier, experimentation was still continued by giving him smaller tasks just on board the Halcyon-4401 station, as hired/bidded by various private companies and small forces, to test out methods of control and recall. As a result of the severe trauma he experienced from becoming a cyborg, and to keep him focused and not lingering on distractions, his mind was regularly wiped after any deployment in a sensory-deprivation tank occasionally has to be pumped full of medication to keep him calm on particularly long missions. The severe trauma he experienced both from the explosion and cyborgification left him with significant amnesia, to the point of not even knowing his own name. His history was erased.

Personality
Any remaining sense of self was beaten out of Diesel. He was supposed to be a cold killer, a war machine with the detachedness of a machine, and his experimentors made sure to keep him this way. The sensory-deprivation tank and the memory wipes not only kept him fresh and precise, they also force him to be devoid of personality and compassion. Slowly, as the resets are lessened (and especially after he meets Lead), he is given chance to develop. Diesel is deeply caring and hyperempathic, and seeks to help anyone in need, no matter how much of a stranger. He is an excellent teamworker and is extremely loyal, almost to a fault. He can be overly trusting and assumes people's best intentions, leading to him to leave authority unquestioned at times. Due to his fierce loyalty and trusting nature, he often finds himself used by others who just seek an efficient tool.
He feels emotions very strongly and often lets them guide him, making him somewhat impulsive. Sometimes he struggles to explain or talk about how he feels, especially if he's frustrated. Despite being impulsive and intense he is actually very aloof; mostly as a result of being somewhat awkard and not always being able to understand or grasp how to interact with others.

Diesel’s body was almost entirely replaced with cybernetics, save for his head, left shoulder/chest and left arm. He suffered deep brain damage and neurological trauma from the explosion and his cerebellum (controls movement and coordination) was almost entirely destroyed. An artificial cerebellum was installed into his abdomen and connected to his brain via a cord running down his spine. This technology is not perfect, and the artificial computer signals don’t always interact with his brain and nervous system perfectly, leading to frequent muscle spasms, especially in his face and remaining arm. Sometimes his mind just goes blank, right in the middle of a sentence, and he has to take a moment for the lights to come back on. The skin on his face is held together in panels (hence the lines) and his eyes are replaced, giving him a dark grey sclera. The small tattoo above his right eyebrow is the ‘signature’ of his creators and is also seen over his stomach. His cybernetic body is mostly made up of graphene nano-tube muscles and is powered through artificial yet organic means, using oxygen supplied by blood. His blood no longer contains hemoglobin, but instead uses hemocyanin to carry oxygen and so appears blue (due to the copper) when oxygenated and pale/colourless when not. Muscle fibers appear green and ligaments/tendons appear yellow. His right forearm has a solid polymer shell to protect the muscle underneath and also houses a long curved blade with can be retracted inside his arm and extended out for fighting (think Genos from OPM, used like Chipp from GG uses his blade). His body has a rudimentary digestive system to provide his systems energy, and a heart and lungs to supply oxygen. The front of his abdomen is covered in a dark, soft plastic skin which houses his organs and secondary processor and covers more muscle. He has long dark hair almost to his mid-back that he keeps well and usually ties into a half-ponytail or a bun depending on how much he needs to move. He has slight fangs and a pale tongue/inside of mouth (due to blue blood).
Regulation of temperature is serious for him; his systems produce a lot more heat than the average person, and he cannot fully regulate temperature through breathing alone (nor does he sweat) so small vents exist on large muscle groups or active areas, so on his thighs and the sides of his chest. His blood is not perfect and can become infected easily, and due to the nature of the hemocyanin, it is sometimes rejected by his immune system, meaning he has to be hooked up to a dialysis-like machine periodically, or alternately he could use immuno-suppressants to reduce the chance of his blood being rejected, however this would leave him susceptible to illness (very common in a place shared with dozens of alien species).
Design Notes
- Top surgery scar (T-anchor) remains on the right side of his chest.
- Has no real concept of modesty/decency, would walk around clothless.
- Can't wear longsleeves, lest his blade tear through them. Prefers cropped clothing.
- Diesel smells like engine oil, new plastic and a warm, unidentifiable spice.
- Takes pride in his hair and leaves it down or in a half-ponytail often. Ties it into a bun when very active.
- Remaining skin is tattered and well-scarred from the explosion.
