Reznor was born to unmarried parents, Cassidy (Steamboat) and Susie. While both of his parents did love him, he felt like he was a mistake and a nuisance. His parents also argued often and his mother often vented angrily about his father, causing Reznor to form negative opinions on Steamboat.
So, when he got older, he wanted nothing to do with them. He moved away on his own, completely changed his fashion, and kept to himself as much as possible. Because of his somewhat crazy ways, Reznor often has very vivid and real-feeling dreams. One day, a mysterious man entered his dreams. His name was Satoshi, and he claimed to have found Reznor's soul because of the strong energy he emitted, as well as his detectable vivid dreams. At first, Reznor dismissed it, but when Satoshi began appearing every time he slept, even naps, he began to believe him. Eventually, they fell in love, and Reznor would sleep all day sometimes, just to be with him.
One day he marched over to Florence’s house to apologize for his father. She was very grateful for his apology but explained that it wasn’t Reznor’s responsibility to apologize and that she had no hard feelings toward Reznor. After a while of chatting, they discovered they had a lot in common.
Reznor began to visit Florence regularly, and they became friends. Eventually, Reznor loved her as if she was his mother (and Florence treated him like he was her son.)
Reznor also assisted Margaret in getting rid of her ghostly father and they grew to be close, like siblings.
Eventually, he did move to Japan to be with Satoshi, and they had a very happy, simple life. However, he and Satoshi longed for a child of their own. For obvious reasons, a biological child was impossible, and there were no children to adopt on the small island.
Satoshi found a spell one day while sorting through old scrolls. This spell was for people who couldn't have children, which combined a small piece of the couples souls to create a new one. So, willing to risk their lives on this dangerous spell, they did it.
It worked.
On (date to be determined) they had a son. They chose the name Ena for him because it means "Gift from God". When they touched souls, it caused all three of them to become immortal, which was a relief and also a bit worrying to think about.
After realizing how much he loved his son, he really thought about his past, and realized that he was wrong about his father, and considered how he'd feel if his own son treated him that way. He repaired his relationship with both of his parents through letters and eventually did visit them again, and they were able to meet their grandchild.
In the 70's they returned to England and lived in Susie and Steamboat's old country house, where Reznor grew up. (Obviously, his parents were long dead.)
