At only 7 moons old when she took her place on the highledge, Dogstar was quite possibly the youngest leader the Clans have ever known.

Chosen personally from birth as her father Wolfstar's heir, Dogpaw… was honestly quite the annoying apprentice. Spunky, reckless, and proud, Dogpaw paraded around the fact that she was going to be MountainClan’s next leader day and night, expressing her “royal privilege” near constantly. The Clan was forced to just tolerate it, expecting her to grow out of it in due time.

Until tragedy struck.

Dogpaw was the only survivor of the mysterious event that killed her father and littermates. The fact that only she lived was interpreted by all as a sign from StarClan, divine intervention; Dogpaw must take her place as leader despite her young age.

Dogstar gained her nine lives before ever receiving a warrior name.

Heronhaze, Dogstar’s mentor and her father’s deputy, tried to offer as much assistance as he could to the young leader. But she refused. Insisted she could do this herself, that she was going to be the best leader this Clan has ever seen.

But in due time, as the responsibility of leading a Clan fell into the young cat’s paws, Dogstar was crushed under it, becoming a scared, angry shell of her former self.
