Always one to speak his mind, Ryepaw is a fiesty young tom trying his best to make a name of himself in the clan. He is not afraid to go where others won't and wishes to enjoy life no matter where he is. Surprisingly he is a rather diligent cat, making sure his duties is done before going off to fool around. While it is extremely hard to get on Rye's bad side, for those who have the unfortunate luck to be on it, he can be a rather mean cat. Not only will Rye no longer trust them until they have redeemed themselves, but he will also constantly remind them of the wrongs that they have done. To him there is no greater sin than to lose one's trust. He usually speaks bluntly and straight to the point, often leading to misunderstandings or hurting others without meaning to. While he values being truthful and direct, Rye struggles to find softer ways to tell others. This makes him feel uncomfortable dealing with overly sensitive topics, often changing the subject or outright dismissing them.

Ryekit was born to a pair of loving warriors, Robinclaw and Larkfeather. Determined to not spoil him as Ryekit was their only offspring, the couple taught the kitten the importance of self-reliance. Ryekit grew up with a strong sense of independence, taking their teaching as to not rely too much on others and that he shouldn't ask for help when he is perfectly capable of doing things on his own. As he grew older with each passing moon Ryekit would attempt more and more to escape the nursery and his parents' supervision to explore the areas just beyond the camp. He grew restless waiting for his turn to become an apprentice. Ryepaw was finally made into an apprentice after what felt like forever to the young tom.
