Maolána

Maolána is a member of the common folk, who was recognised for her prowess with a sword. She was chosen to guard Lady Aerin, which was meant to be an insult (so as to entrust Aerin to the hands of a lowly commoner), but rather gave her an easy, meaningful life, and Aerin enjoys her company. 

Maolána's race is what determines her position in the society of Greene. The more animal the individual, the lower their ranking in life... up until recently, that is. Many people still have a bitter taste in their mouth for the Feline. Maolána was originally thought to be a man, so she was renamed Maolán, but she added an 'a' to make it feminine. She chose to abandon her birth name.
